Welcome to Batchelor Middle School, home of the Bulldogs. We want to see all students succeed both here at Batchelor and in life. We want to provide a safe learning environment with as many opportunities to allow the success of all our students to be reached. With my experience as the Athletic Director/Assistant Principal and now Principal, I am able to see the many sides of your children and the educational process. Batchelor has a dedicated staff that desires to raise the academic bar of our students. We also have a dedicated coaching staff that teach sportsmanship as well as instill a commitment to never ending improvement. About Mr. Gilpin Mr. Gilpin has been married to his wonderful wife Sandy since 1992. In January of 1997, they had their first son, Taylor. In September of 1998, they had their second son, Tanner. In December of 2000, the third and final child was a girl who they named Taryn. Mr. Gilpin
grew up in Michigan.
He graduated with his Bachelor's Degree in 1993 from Cincinnati
Bible College
(currently called Cincinnati Christian University)
in Cincinnati, OH. Sandy and Eric moved to Bloomington, IN. in the summer of 1993. The
following year Mr. Gilpin attended Indiana
University where he
received his teaching license. His first teaching job was at Martinsville East
Middle School in Martinsville, IN. as a social studies
teacher. He coached both football and basketball. In 1999 Mr. Gilpin began
teaching at Batchelor
Middle School and
continued to coach football at Batchelor. In the spring of 2000, Mr. Gilpin
finished his Masters of Education through Indiana Wesleyan
University. In the summer
of 2002, he finished his work on his Building Administration and Supervision
License. That summer he also began his new position at Batchelor Middle School
as the Assistant Principal and Athletic Director. In January 2008 Mr. Gilpin
began his work on his Educational Specialist degree through Indiana State
University. He completed
that in May 2009. The beginning of the
2009-2010 school year, Mr. Gilpin took over as the interim Principal at
Batchelor. In January 2010, the interim tag was taken off Mr. Gilpin. Mr. Gilpin
also was the part-time youth minister at South Union Christian Church from 1993
to 2002. He and his family still continue to attend and serve at South Union. |
