![]() Gales Ferry, Connecticut artist John Lamar was born and raised in the Carolinas and migrated north to New England in 1979. He hosts a weekly radio show called Rodeo Joe & the Rock ‘n’ Roll Roundup at WCNI, an alternative radio station which broadcasts from Connecticut College in New London. You can listen, and find out more about the station at www.wcniradio.org. He is a proud member of the Second Step Players, a theater troupe based in Norwich, Connecticut, as well as Intentional Theater (Waterford) and Chelsea Players (Norwich). Lamar has always made things with his hands, mostly egg-oriented crafts such as pysanky (Ukrainian egg dyeing) as well as the textile and paper arts. He prefers to style himself as an “eclectic” artist and his work is an exotic blend of color & texture. He makes jewelry & other decorative objects that are each one-of-a-kind works of exuberant, handmade emotion. He creates with dichroic glass, fused in a kiln in his studio in Gales Ferry, Connecticut. Check out his work by clicking one of the galleries in the sidebar. All pieces are handmade and one of a kind. Jewelry displayed may not be available for sale, as his glass work is very popular. If you see something you like, please contact John, as custom pieces are a welcome challenge. Polymer clay pieces are for display only; he rarely works in polymer clay since his introduction to the joys of dichroic fusing. |
