Policy & Procedures

 Reserving a Lesson Time

Welcome to the Elliott Music Studio! We are excited to offer you the opportunity to have a fun and enriching music experience. A nonrefundable, deposit is necessary to reserve your weekly lesson time and must be paid in advance of your first lesson. Your deposit can be paid by personal check, cash or on our website with PayPal. This deposit is not in addition to your first month's tuition and will be subtracted from that amount.  An invoice will be sent to you once your enrollment form has been processed.

30 Minute Lesson     $15.00
60 Minute Lesson     $30.00

Tuition
Tuition is paid on a monthly basis and must be received by the first of each month. Tuition can be paid by personal check, cash or through our PayPal invoice. If you pay by mail, please be certain to send your tuition payment so that it is received by the 1st. These are flat fees to reserve weekly lesson time, whether you choose to attend or miss. Some months will be shorter or longer than average. Over the course of the year, however, it should average out to at least 4 lessons per month. It is necessary to ensure that tuition payments are received on time. A $10.00 fee will be added to all late tuition payments that have not been received be the 1st of that month. A $25.00 fee will also be added to all returned checks in addition to bank charges.

Currently, my monthly rates for music lessons are as follows:

30 Minute Lesson    $60.00
60 Minute Lesson    $120.00

Make-up Lessons & Attendance

Because of the limited amount of time that I have to teach, I can only reserve slots in my studio for those students that attend class regularly. If you need to cancel your lesson, please call or email me as soon as possible. If you cannot get a hold of me on the phone, just leave a message. Students that miss more than 2 lessons in any given month will be subject to removal from the studio unless arrangements are made in advance.

I do allow for make-up lessons. If a lesson must be missed, please notify the studio as far in advance as possible. I do understand that things happen and will allow for a make-up lesson in cases of unexpected illness and special circumstances. Due to the confines of limited studio time, make-up lessons may not always be available. The nature of music lessons requires that fees be charged by the month, and are not lowered nor refunded for missed lessons. Please bear in mind that, during the year, some months will contain an extra week for which there is no additional charge. It is highly recommended that you attend regularly during these months, helping you to compensate for any lesson(s) you may have missed during the year. If I should become ill, take vacation, or cancel unexpectedly, I will make arrangements to make-up any missed lesson time.

Termination of Lessons

If a student and/or parent should decide to terminate lessons at any given time during the year, the studio requires a TWO WEEK WRITTEN NOTICE. Such notice must be delivered to me (Emily Elliott) personally or sent by email. The studio will not telephone messages as documentation for said notice. Regardless of when appropriate notice is given, such student /parent shall be financially responsible for the following two weeks of lessons, whether the student/parent chooses to attend or be absent.

Arriving at the Studio
The Elliott Music Studio is located in my home and I live in a locked, buzzer-less building. It's important when you arrive to give me a call so I can come down to the main door and let you in. I try to look for all of my students before their scheduled lesson times but that isn't always possible. If you are unable to call when you arrive please give me a heads up so I am make a special note to look for you.

Practicing
All students are expected to practice. No matter what your reason for taking lessons is, it is imperative that you work and study to review the lessons taught each week. Without this, there is no progress. Students are encouraged to practice a minimum of 20 minutes, 5 days per week depending on their level and age. Each student will vary, and based upon the student's customized learning plan, a personal recommendation will be given. Students will be given an assignment / progress book to record music goals and practice time each week. Every student will know exactly what they are expected to do for the next lesson, and what they need to accomplish during the week.

Thank You
It's a pleasure to bring music into your life! Thanks for choosing the Elliott Music Studio, and please feel free to call 816.237.0380 or e-mail me with any questions or comments.
