The need analysis was conducted at the beginning of the project life time. The Grundtvig programme, launched by the European Commission’s Directorate General for Education and Culture, aims at improving the content and delivery of adult education, as well as the accessibility of learning and continuing education opportunities for adults. For the purpose of the identification of the e-learning training needs of teachers and trainers in the area of European integration, a survey has been carried out in seven EU countries (Austria, Czech Republic, Luxemburg, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Spain) among a total of 236 respondents.
The results of this survey have been taken into account when developing the content of the envisaged e-learning course on European integration for teachers and trainers.
In sum, the survey revealed the following major issues: Ø The existence of a substantial interest in e-learning; Ø However, the participants did not prefer one (or more) specific form(s) of e-learning, so this will have to be decided by the project developers according to cost/benefit considerations. However, the respondents would be in favour of combined e-learning forms as compared to 100% e-learning. Ø The survey clearly revealed a rank-order of topics. Nevertheless, when developing the overall programme, one should not neglect the overall framework and the logics of the programme’s content, which might not be fully congruent with the preferred topics. Ø The respondents clearly indicated that they would, by majority, not be willing to spend more than 3 hours per week for the e-learning program. Ø It should be reflected whether there is an opportunity to have an accreditation for the programme (if relevant), as this seems to be strongly appreciated by the respondents. | Profile of the respondents
