This is a pedometer design that captures energy from the wearer's foot strike to power the transducer electronics. A piezo disk serves as both the sensor and the power source. Included is an FFT algorithm that reliably decodes the step count from the sensor waveform. The FFT algorithm derives the step rate from the dominant frequency detected from the sensor waveform.
