Edufest sometimes awards scholarships to parents, teachers, administrators, and college students interested in students grades K-12 who have shown excellence in interacting with gifted students and have a desire to further the development of their teaching, parenting, and/or advocacy skills. The scholarship is designed to reimburse/defray the costs of attending the Edufest conference for eligible parties involved with gifted students in a variety of educational settings.

Submission Procedure

Materials may be submitted by the individual (self-nominations are encouraged) or another nominating party.

• One letter providing the following information:

·         Location of school and subject taught (for teachers/administrators)

·         Reason for attending Edufest

·         Potential application of the information learned at the conference.

• Curriculum vita or resume for the nominee.

Please do not use staples when preparing your nomination materials.

Nomination materials postmarked after May 31 will not be considered.

Selection Criteria

Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching as documented through responses.

Restrictions

• An individual may receive this award once.
• The nominee agrees to write a 2-page review of how he/she implemented the material learned at Edufest.
• The recipient(s) will receive a waiver of a portion of the registration fee (meals and dorm not included) for the Edufest conference. The amount of the waiver will depend on the strength of the materials submitted and the number of proposals received.

Selection Procedure

• All materials should be sent to the Board of Directors in care of Edufest.
• The Chair, appointed by the Board of Directors, will compile data regarding nominations and distribute this information to the Board of Directors.
• The Board of Directors will identify the award recipient(s).
• All applicants will be notified of the results in writing no later than June 15.

Award

The award recipient will receive a waiver of the conference portion of the registration fee.
