The EDM plan is your starting point.  It states the destination and describes how you will get there. It is based on proven business planning disciplines and is consistent with TOGAF approach.  The course covers:

• Business strategies, plans and information needs
• Architecture components
• Creation of EDM projects and plans
• Business cases for project and entire programs

You will be able to produce a cost justified plan for implementing an Enterprise Data Architecture and EDM program within an investment enterprise

You will have a broader understanding of Enterprise Architecture and have insights in The Open Group (TOGAF) approach.

EDM Data Architecture and Design

A key deliverable of EDM is a sound data architecture that supports the entire enterprise.  You will use the EDMworks knowledge base to identify enterprise needs and construct a data architecture for an investment enterprise.   The course covers:

• Enterprise Information needs and data usage
• Key processing challenges 
• Review of alternative architectural models 
• Selection and development of  core components,policies and guidelines

This course will make you a more effective Data Analyst.  It will give you extensive insights into the investment business and enable you distil and model underlying data structures accurately and quickly quickly.  It will give you effective, consistent ways of modelling investment objects and enable you to develop composite structures that are a feature of the industry. The course covers:

• Data Modelling techniques
• Reference structures for assets, issuers, clients, other parties, funds and products
• Financial structures for transactions, holdings and accruals
• Aggregations and classifications
• Views and composite structures

This advanced course provides deep insight into complex investment business issues and the underlying data. 

It is for experienced analysts and designers who are tasked to work on enterprise wide or complex systems integration projects.  Some of the subjects covered include:

You will be conversant with key data modelling and integration issues and have strategies for dealing with them.

You will develop advanced subject matter expertise and be more effective in communicating with end-users.

You will be capable of designing data structures to support complex systems THAT WILL BE consistent with existing designs that you have created.

EDM Operational Data Management

As the planning and implementation work progresses, it is the task of Operations to pick up the project and maintain the data.  Operations staff need to be trained to work with EDM teams and to plan for the take-on and operations of new data management activities. 

Centralised data management is one of the key growth areas within an enterprise which will enable it for scalable growth.

You will understand the growing role of Data Management Operations within the investment enterprise.
