The ERC recognizes teachers and educational teams each year who exemplify best practices in support of quality inclusive educational experiences for children with disabilities. To date, ERC has presented 34 awards to educators in 6 different Edmonton-region school districts. Overseeing the awards is the responsibility of the Awards Committee. We encourage families to nominate outstanding educators or education teams. Nominations are received from any parent, and endorsed by a member on staff, at schools in the Edmonton area. Awards may be presented at school assemblies, staff meetings, etc, and a copy of the award is forwarded to the district’s superintendent and trustees. This committee is made up of volunteers who take on an active role in publicizing the awards, reviewing nominations, and taking part in presentations to award winners. New committee members are welcome. The work of this committee is guided by ERC’s Steering Committee. The ERC’s member organizations support this work primarily by letting their membership know about the awards, distributing nomination forms to their members, letting their members know about award winners, and by providing the volunteer manpower needed.
