ERC was invited to visit Ukraine to lead Inclusve Education workshops in Lviv and Simferopol. Pictures and detailed report on "Advocacy" page.

Advocacy

The Advocacy Committee actively seeks out, organizes, participates in, and encourages others to participate in advocacy initiatives relating to inclusive education.

We do this by creating opportunities for parents to get hands-on experience by becoming involved in systemic advocacy activities to support inclusive education at the local and provincial levels.

This committee is made up of volunteers who are who are interested in engaging and learning about advocacy initiatives. Members take on an active role in these initiatives, and new committee members are welcome. The work of the committee is guided by the ERC’s Steering Committee.

The ERC’s member organizations support this work primarily by letting their membership know about upcoming initiatives and activities, and by providing the volunteer manpower needed.

ERC in Ukraine

As part of a larger CIDA project, ERC was invited to travel to Ukraine in June 2010. While there we led two 5-day workshops, in Lviv and Simferopol, on inclusive education. Parents, educators, administrators, and other stakeholders from numerous schools and regions attended these workshops. The workshops very well received and bonds were both created and strengthened. It was a very exciting opportunity to share what we've learned about inclusion, creating strong working relationships between parents and educators, and advocating to create systemic change.
