Another GCSO is done. Thank you to all 101 teams from New Brunswick to the Yukon that attended the 2011 Great Canadian Shoot Out.
We had a fantastic weekend showing off the new Go Centre in spite of the fact that much of the facility was still under construction. The excitement and admiraton for both the facility and the people with the foresight to build it was exceptional. Every player, coach and spectator was awestruck. Edmonton is so lucky to have this spectacular new world class venue for Volleyball, Basketball and Gymnastics.
We had over 100 volunteers including players, parents and siblings from our Grads teams running the time and score clocks, selling souvenirs, running errands, directing people and managing admissions. You all did a great job making sure that our guests could enjoy the games. As always, our officials managed the 250+ games in 3 days as well as humanly possible. Your efforts in finding and scheduling the number of officials necessary for this size of tournament on such a popular long weekend is remarkable. We had some great support from the University of Alberta, Saville Centre, Foote Field, the Go Centre and Clark Construction getting the building as ready as they could and then supporting us all weekend. Thank you to all and especially to the volunteers that gave up every waking hour (you know who you are) of the weekend to ensure this was successful.
We know that this event will be even bigger and better next year and hope you will all come back.
Thanks also to our sponsors.
