Alaska Yukon Pacific Exposition Connection? Were your ancestors in Washington 100 years ago? If they were, chances are that they attended the Alaska Yukon Pacific Exposition which took place over several months in 1909 on the campus of the University of Washington. Plans are in the works to have a great celebration of the 100th anniversary of what was the event that put Seattle on the map. The only existing film of the AYPE is the Norway Day video. If your ancestors attended, do you have any souvenirs or stories about the event that you can share at a meeting later this year? Roberta birdeekay@earthlink.net Our library now contains 2 copies of "Norway Day, Alaska-Yukon-Pacific exposition" obtained from the "Seattle Municipal Archives Motion Picture Collection." Some details about the film are here. It will be screened during a future meeting. |
