From: CAROL ROWE FOOD BANK

Summary Statistics for November - 2011
Number of Households Served   2,113
Number of Individuals Served     8,919
Number of Meals Provided        80,271

Comments:

November was a month with 5 distributions. We nearly broke all records for our Thanksgiving distribution, serving 503 families. Everyone who came received a 2# turkey meal, a whole chicken, or a turkey depending on the size of their family.

On Saturday December 10, we will hold the annual Toy Shop which is part of the outreach program of the Ed monds United Methodist Church . Last year over a 1,000 children received toys. The food bank provides the people and the Church does most of the work. We are always in need of donations of toys. We are providing food barrels all over town for donations of food.

Mange Takk! – Mary VanEss / Peggy Kennedy (#1 citizen)

From the
12/09/2010 Edmonds Beacon Newspaper

"Peggy Kennedy, Director of the Food Bank accepts a check from Bob Stevenson, Edmonds Lodge Sons of Norway President. Also pictured are (l-r) Glenn Werner, Harold Malnes and Al Vadset, who are all Sons of Norway members as well as food bank volunteers.

In the spirit of the season, Edmonds Lodge Sons of Norway donated the final installment of a $1,000 pledge to the Carol Rowe Memorial Food Bank in Edmonds.

In honor of the 100th anniversary of the Sons of Norway District 2, consisting of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Alaska, many lodges from the region participated in “100” themed activities.

The Edmonds Lodge decided to contribute money in $100 increments to the food bank. The money was collected from members and guests at the Sons of Norway monthly meetings and during the Lodge sponsored Saturday Pancake Breakfasts throughout this past year.

The Edmonds Sons of Norway has been contributing to the food bank for over 10 years, but this is the first time they have given at this level thanks to the addition of a collection box at the Pancake Breakfasts and generous contributions from members."

Tubfrim

There are many ways in which we are asked to assist our fellow human beings who are in need. Participation in the Tubfrim program is one of the more simple yet successful ways to do just that. Tubfrim is an organization in Norway that resells cancelled stamps and originally donated the proceeds to help fight tuberculosis. Now Sons of Norway is proud to support Tubfrim in their work to support children in need.

To help Tubfrim do its crucial work, simply clip canceled stamps from envelopes, leaving at least a quarter of an inch around the edge. When you have collected a pound of stamps, ask your Tubfrim chairperson or lodge secretary to weigh and verify them. Then place your stamps in a plastic bag and send it in a sturdy box to:
