Edmonds Sons of Norway Lodge 2-130

515-Dayton Street, Edmonds (directions)

mailing address:-P.O. Box 1651, Edmonds, WA  98020-1651

Lodge 2-130 Board meetings are usually held on the 1st Wednesday (at 7:30 PM) of each month on the lower level of the Edmonds Masonic Center. There are NO Board meetings in June, July, or August.

There is a special board meeting to be held on Wednesday, 11/18/09, to make spending decisions based upon revenue received from our 'Auction' membership meeting held on 11/11/09.

Sons of Norway District 2 Newsletters describe district lodge activities that involve local Lodge representatives from Alaska, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington.

Twenty-five years-worth of Edmonds Lodge presidents...every one that our lodge has had...attended the 25th anniversary bash.....

And many charter members of Edmonds Lodge were also on hand for the gala affair.

President's message for June 2009

Next year we will be celebrating the 100 year anniversary of District 2 Sons of Norway with all of the other lodges in the district (Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Alaska). It is suggested that each lodge celebrate in some fashion to highlight the anniversary. "Fram, forward into the future" is a popular phrase around the district  Fram translated is "forward", like rett fram means "straight ahead". The attached photo of Amundsen's famous sailing vessel Fram went on explorations to the Arctic and the Antarctic and is certainly a symbol of forward thinking.

Edmonds Lodge should consider some special event next year to highlight the anniversary. Christine Andersen, District 2 Historian suggested maybe our Scandinavian Festival or a pancake breakfast could feature the anniversary. We have not done a full Scandinavian Festival for several years but maybe this is a time to figure out if with a special district 100 year anniversary feature we could come up with some ideas to make it work for the community, for Sons of Norway and for our treasury.

This will be on the agenda at our meeting on June 28 at the Midsommerfest at St. Edwards Park. Let's see if there are some special ways we could accent a reconstituted Scandinavian Festival or if there are other ways we could help celebrate the anniversary. Please talk it up with members and friends before the meeting on the 28th, and especially with those who do not have e-mail.

It is time to get out on the foot trails. The SkiBiWalHiVi Club began the outing season with an easy stroll on the Lime Kiln Trail near Granite Falls. If you want to get out and get going, see some beautiful forest and interesting railroad history, join the SkiingBikingWalkingHikingViking Club.
We have no meetings, no records, no dues and no officers. Just outings. Call Al Berg at 425-743-2261 or me at 425-712-9788 and we will try to schedule outings on a convenient date for many to enjoy. – Bob
