Tips

• Conversions

Conversions from one format to another (e.g. footage to timecode) happen automatically as you do calculations.

To convert a timecode value from one frame rate to another:

  1. Press the "TC" button to enter timecode mode
  2. Enter the timecode value or perform a calculation
  3. Press the "Fr" button to enter frame mode (this holds the frames value constant as you switch between frame rates)
  4. Press one of the frame rate buttons (e.g. "23.98") or the "DF" button

To convert a footage value from one film format to another:

  1. Press the "Ft" button to enter footage mode
  2. Enter the footage value or perform a calculation
  3. Press the "Fr" button to enter frame mode (this holds the frames value constant as you switch between film formats)
  4. Press the "Film" button to cycle through the film formats

• Vari-Speed (±% and Δ% Buttons)

To apply a vari-speed scaling percentage to a timecode value or result:

  1. Press the "TC" button to enter timecode mode
  2. Enter the timecode value or perform a calculation
  3. Press the "±%" button, enter the vari-speed percentage (positive or negative) via the dials and press apply
  4. The calculated result is displayed
  5. Press the "=" button to add/subtract the result from the original timecode value.

To determine what the vari-speed scaling percentage is between two timecode values:

  1. Press the "TC" button to enter timecode mode
  2. Enter the first timecode value or perform a calculation
  3. Press the "Δ%" button
  4. Enter the second timecode value
  5. Press the "=" button
  6. An alert message will display the percentage difference between the two timecode values (positive or negative)
  7. The calculator display shows the timecode, footage and frame difference between the two timecode values

• History

The history view, accessed via the watch icon at the bottom left of the calculator, displays previous entries, calculations and conversions.

Touching any of the values will recall it to the calculator, including switching modes, frame rates or film formats.

To clear the history display press the garbage can icon in the upper left corner.
