Superheroes and villains. 

                                    Right and wrong. 

                                                            Good and evil.

The rhetoric for an absolute ethical dichotomy has evolved in popular culture, but especially in the superhero comic book genre where such a dichotomy is essential to its marketing and survival.

But who are the villains? Who are the heroes? What does it mean for a historically hegemonic genre that basis itself on American heroism to have no clear idealistic symbols identified?

 
Could it be the self-consumption of an archaic rhetoric?
