CHIARI what?

My experience with Chiari I Malformation

My name is Eden and I was diagnosed with Chiari Malformation I in December of 2007.

This page is created to update and inform family/friends and fellow Chiarians (zipperheads) about my condition.  The contents of this page is for informational purposes only.  Each individual has different symptoms and only your physician can diagnose your condition correctly.

So what is Chiari (kee-ya-ree) Malformation? It is a serious neurological disorder where the bottom part of the brain, the cerebellum, descends out of the skull and crowds the spinal cord, putting pressure on both the brain and spine and causing many symptoms.

Simply said: the brain is "too big" for its container.  So I like to think that my brain is "gigantic" or maybe I just have a small head.  HAHA!
