Emmanuel J. Chéron is retired Select Professor in Marketing of the Global Business Program at Akita International University, a Public University Corporation located in Akita City, Japan. He has an MBA from Queen's University, Kingston, Ontario and a Ph.D. from Laval University, Quebec City, Canada.

Dr. Chéron was previously affiliated with Sophia University in Tokyo, the School of Business at the University of Quebec in Montreal and at Laval University in Quebec City, Canada. He has been invited as visiting professor at Kansai, Keio and Temple Universities in  Japan as well as at the Business Institute of Management of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and at the School of Marketing Sorbonne-Assas, France. He was recently teaching in the MBA program of UIBS Tokyo Business School in Japan.

His current research interests focus on marketing in Japan, international marketing, strategic marketing and marketing of services with a strong emphasis on quantitative methods applied to marketing decision-making. He has co-authored two books and computer software. He has published in numerous academic journals including Journal of Consumer Policy, Transportation Research, Journal of International Consumer Marketing, International Journal of Research in Marketing, Journal of Consumer Behavior, Journal of Consumer Marketing, Journal of Asia-Pacific Business, Canadian Journal of Administrative Sciences, Asian Journal of Marketing, Japanese Psychological Research, Recherche et Applications en Marketing and Décisions Marketing. He has also published in many refereed conference proceedings, including those of the American Marketing Association, the Academy of Marketing Science, the Association for Consumer Research, the Administrative Science Association of Canada, the European Marketing Academy and the French Marketing Association. He serves on the Editorial Review Board of two academic journals. He also has had the opportunity to consult for Canadian Crown corporations, public and private companies.
