Thank you for supporting our HomeMade Pizza fundraiser and earning us $404!  Thank you again for joining us in eating pizza and helping us support the Family Center. There are some great upcoming events and we look forward to seeing you there.

Sunnyside Gardens Spring Fundraiser 

The Edina ECFE PTO is excited to announce our Spring Gift Card fundraiser with Sunnyside Gardens. Sunnyside is a locally-owned business that supports the Edina Family Center in many ways.

For every gift card purchased between April 9th and May 11th, the Family Center will receive 15% back to support scholarships, classroom improvements and more. The gift cards are perfect for Mother's Day gifts, classroom teacher thank you presents, or naturally, your spring planting!

Spring Party: May 17th 4-6pm

FREE!! Join us for our last party of the year - the Sping Party! May 17th from 4-6pm at the Rosland Park. Enjoy two bouncy houses (one only for the little ones), crafts, snacks games and more. Schwann's Ice cream will also be available for purchase. See you there!
The PTO Needs Tax Help 
 

Are you a CPA? The PTO needs your help. Tax season is here and we are looking for help in filing our tax forms. If anyone is a CPA and willing to donate their time to help us prepare and file, please contact Treasurer Kate O'Connell at katemattoconnell@gmail.com. Thank you!

 Rally Day 

Thank you to everyone who got on the bus and joined us for Rally Day at the State Capitol. Over 40 people joined us and we had a great time listening to music, meeting our legislators and supporting early childhood education!

General Information 

Our monthly newsletter will remain our main source of news and upcoming events. Key information will also be available on our website and Facebook (like us if you haven’t already). And as always, we encourage you to attend our monthly PTO meeting. Meeting dates: March 6th, April 10, May 8 at 2:15pm.

 
United Way Donations 

Does your family participate in United Way Giving campaigns through an employer? If so, you now have the option to direct your United Way donations to the Edina Family Center! To designate the Edina ECFE PTO as the recipient of your contribution, simply fill out your corporate United Way enrollment form with the legal name/address of the Edina ECFE PTO, Edina Family Center 5701 Normandale Road Edina, MN 55424.

Scholastic Book Orders 

 

The Edina Family Center will participate in the Scholastic Book Club program again this year.  The Scholastic Book Club program is designed to help you find high quality books at a reasonable price and allows your teacher to earn free books for her classroom. 

Consistent with the district going paperless, all activities will occur online this year – providing you with a much wider selection of books than previously provided by the printed flyer.  Plus, you can enter you orders online with Scholastic and pay with your credit card.  Each time you place an online order, your child’s teacher earns a FREE book.

To use the online process, follow these simple steps:

1.      REGISTER at Scholastic Book Clubs’ secure Web site – www.scholastic.com/bookclubs,  and create your own User Name and Password. 

2.      ENTER the onetime Class Activation Code (see below for your teacher’s code) to link to your child’s classroom and teacher recommendations.

3.      SELECT books from the many titles available.  After you have completed creating your account, you will be directed to where you can select and order books.  Follow the directions to complete your order. 

4.      PAY safely and securely for your selections using your credit card.

5.      SEND the order to your child’s teacher online.

6.      RECEIVE your books from your child’s teacher.  PLEASE NOTE:  Books ordered by the deadlines identified below will be delivered directly to your child’s classroom approximately two weeks after the order deadline.

Following the above directions will help us to get your child’s books to you in an orderly and timely fashion because multiple classrooms use this site.

            Order deadline will always be posted on the Scholastic Book Club Edina Family Center Website.  Reminders will also be posted in the Growing Together Newsletter and the PTO Newsletter.

Recipe of the Month

Every month we will be profiling a recipe from the Edina Family Center Favorites Cookbook. They are available for sale in the office for $5.

Black Bean, Corn, and Salsa Chicken, recipe by Deana Haug

2-4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (uncooked)

1 cup chicken broth

1 cup salsa

1 (15 oz.) can corn, drained

1 (15 oz.) can black beans, drained

1 envelope taco seasoning

Place chicken in greased 3.5 to 5 quart slow cooker. Pour broth, salsa, corn, beans, and taco seasonings over chicken. Cover and cook on low heat 6-8 hours or high heat for 3-4 hours. Shred chicken. Serve with tortillas and top meat with sour cream and shredded cheese.

Fill the Bears. Clip Campbell's labels (including Pepperidge Farms, Pop-Secret, V-8, and Prego) and wash out Kemps milk caps and bring them to the Family Center.
 
Scholastic Books
The Family Center has gone paperless!  All Scholastic orders will now be done online and the Family Center will get a free book for every order.
