I’m a biologist interested in communication between species of animals. Most of my work has been done on vocal communication in birds, with a large percentage of that in Sri Lanka. Currently, however, I’m extending my research to olfactory communication in bees, in collaboration with James Nieh at the University of California, San Diego. I’m also very interested in teaching, and education projects that disseminate knowledge about animals and their conservation, and promote exchange between scientists in different countries, particularly southern Asia, Melenasia and the United States.
