DR. SONNY STRANGE - PASTOR
Dr. Sonny Strange grew up in Jeffeson County and spend all but three years of his life in one place or another in the county. He was ordained in 1975, initially as a bivocational pastor. He received his Bachelors Degree in Religion from Carson-Newman College in 1986, his Master of Divinity Degree from Southern Seminary in 1988, and his Doctorate Degree in 1999 from Lexington Theological Seminary. He has been an adjunct professor at Carson-Newman since 1991. Throughout each step of this process, Sonny has come to better understand God's work in his life and the direction He wanted him to take.
Sonny was called as Pastor of Emmanuel in 1989. During that time, he is justifiably proud of past accomplishments, and is extremely excited about the future of our church.
Sonny is married to Brenda Wise, and has four children and five grandchildren.
BERNADELLE MOONEY - FINANCIAL SECRETARY
Bernadelle Mooney has served Emmanuel as financial secretary since 2002. Originally from South Dakota, she and her husband Floyd moved to Jefferson County in 1978 when Floyd began attending Carson-Newman College.
Bernadelle and Floyd have 3 married daughters, 3 grandsons and 2 granddaughters. Both she and Floyd love raising horses and working on their farm.
ANDREW ELDRIDGE - SECURITY & MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR
Andrew Eldridge has been serving as security and maintenance supervisor at Emmanuel for over 15 years. His duties are varied, and include general security of the building and facilities, including the parking lot and church bus.
He has been married to his wife Charlene for over ten years.
| DR. MARK HUSSUNG - MINISTER OF MUSIC
Compared with many in the area, Dr. Mark Hussung is something of a newcomer to East Tennessee. However, he has lived here long enough to consider the area as home, and he and his family has grown to love the area and the people. He and his wife Rita moved to Jefferson City when he joined the Carson-Newman Music Department faculty in the fall of 1993.
Mark first visited Emmanuel in the fall of 1995 while searching for a church home and quickly felt certain that Emmanuel was a church body where the family could grow in their faith, worship as part of a diverse body of believers, and feel comfortable raising their children. He became the Minister of Music a few months later.
Mark credits God with helping evolve Emmanuel's worship services for the last several years, allowing us to worship Him enthusiastically through a variety of styles of music. As a congregation, Mark believes what we are trying to express to God through our worship is more important than the particular style of music that we are using.
Mark has a Doctorate of Musical Arts from the University of Cincinnati College/Conservatory of Music. He is an Associate Professor of Music and Director of the Honors Program at Carson-Newman College.
Mark and Rita have three sons (Steven, Jonathan, and Luke) that are home-schooled.
