Ministries

Emmanuel is committed to fostering the spiritual development of its members and helping them gain a greater knowledge and understanding of Scripture and its
teachings.  One way we accomplish this is through a variety of Small Group Bible Study classes.  No matter your age or where you are in your life journey, we have a suitable class for you.  In them, you will find warm, welcoming people who are eager to learn more about God and develop a closer walk with Jesus.

We also have a variety of programs for youth, from nursery and toddlers all the way through college.  We are determined to help our youth develop into strong, moral Christians.

These studies are offered on Sundays at 9:30AM, and on Wednesdays at 6:30PM.

Men's Fraternity

Helping men develop and grow in their walk with Christ is an important objective here at Emmanuel.  Our men meet every Sunday evening to discuss various topics and issues related to being a Christian man.  Past topics have included anger management, building a stronger marriage, spiritual disciplines, time management, rearing children, and many others.

The group also holds an annual retreat filled with educational sessions and outdoor activities.

Women's Group

Women play a vital role in our church and community, and their spiritual and personal development is essential.  Our women meet regulary to discuss issues of importance, as well as to fellowship and bond.  Activities include retreats, dinners, outings and more.

E-Music Ministry

E-Music Ministries is the name of our music program.  We regularly sponsor Sunday evening concerts as an outreach to the residents of Jefferson County and surrounding areas.  We rehearse diligently so that we can use our gifts to help with Emmanuel's worship services.

As part of our ministries, we have many different types of music groups for people of all ages.  At Emmanuel, we try to put into practice the words of Psalm 150 where it says to praise God "with the sounding of the trumpet, praise Him with the harp and lyre, ... praise Him with the strings and flute, praise Him with the clash of cymbals".  We have used all types of instruments, including harps and dulcimers, drum sets and organs in our services.

Below is a list of our current instrumental ensembles and choral groups along with meeting times.  If you are interested in joining one of these, please contact the church.

Preschool Musik Garten (ages 18 months-5 years) 6:30PM Sundays

As stated by Christian Pastor Rick Warren, the Bible clearly states "all have sinned."  It is in our nature to sin, and none of us is untainted.  Because of sin, we’ve all hurt ourselves, we’ve all hurt other people, and others have hurt us.  This means each of us need repentance and recovery in order to live our lives the way God intended.

Celebrate Recovery is a biblical and balanced program to help people overcome their hurts, habits and hang-ups.  The group meets here at Emmanuel every Monday at 7:00PM.

None of us are perfect.  The fact that many of us struggle with addictions, however, does not mean that Jesus loves us any less.

Emmanuel is committed to helping people deal with real-world problems, including alcohol and drug addictions.  We are proud to host a local Narcotics Anonymous group, which meets in our facilities on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 8:00PM.

Emmanuel has a true heart for missions, not only within our community and state, but around the world.

Since 1997, we send forth teams twice a year to serve in churches and communities in Costa Rica.  These teams help construct and repair churches, prepare and host Bible study events, evangelize in the local communities, and much, much more.

Locally, our church is deeply involved with Appalachian Outreach, a community ministry based here in Jefferson City that provides clothing, food, housing, construction and other services to people throughout the region.  Further, we hold classes to help foreign students and residents learn English as a second languate.  We also have active Royal Ambassadors and Girls in Action groups, both of which are committed to spreading the Good News of Christ throughout the community and world.

Many of our members also visit local nursing homes and community shelters to conduct Bible studies, church services and provide other assistance.

Prayer Warriors

We recognize the importance of going to the Lord in prayer in thanksgiving and praise, as well as with our concerns and needs.  We also realize the importance of keeping everyone informed on matters of concern that arise within our church congregation.

As such, we have an efficient family phone tree program wherein members are informed quickly whenever someone is ill or in need.  Members are contacted via an automated phone system that reaches everyone quickly and efficiently.  This way, all members can lift up their prayers for those in need.

Xpedition Group

We are blessed to live in East Tennessee, an area overflowing with natural beauty.  We are surrounded by beautiful mountains, lakes, forests, pastures and so much more of God's incredible handiwork.

Emmanuel has an extremely active Xpedition Group that partakes of this beauty by enjoying God's creation via hiking, boating, rafting, bicycling and more.  In addition, the group also partakes in less physical activites such as mini-golf, bowling, sight-seeing and other activities fit for the entire family.

The group generally schedules two or three events each month, and are always on the lookout for new and fun-filled activities.

Senior Ministries - Key Club

We recognize that our seniors provide us not only with a wealth of knowledge and experience, but are also a vital part of our church's operation and success.  We salute and honor our seniors, and try to provide every opportunity for them to grow, both spiritually and personally.

The Key Club provides our senior members with opportunities to fellowship, attend events and concerts, and enjoy many other sight-seeing and pleasure activities.  They meet at EBC on the second Wednesday of each month.

Christian Hoops Ministry

Rigorous physical exercise is important to maintaining our health and keeping our bodies in good shape.  Exercise can be fun, as well as an opportunity for good Christian fellowship and growth.  That is the goal of our Christian Hoops Ministry.

Each week, men and women of all ages gather to play basketball, but with a Christian attitude and atmosphere.  Play begins with prayer, and a Scripture or related devotional is conducted during a break in the activities.  While competitive, everyone is encouraged to play in a friendly, good-nautred manner, uplifting each other.

The group meets every Tuesday evening from 6:30PM - 9:00PM.

Girl scouts teach young girls tremendous values and skills.  Emmanuel is proud to host a local troop of the Girl Scouts program.  Each week, the girls learn new skills, play games, socialize and have fun.  They also participate in many outside activities and service projects.

The Girl Scouts meet at 6:00PM on the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month here at EBC.
