What To Expect

When You Visit
Your first visit to a new church is never easy.  Even if a friend has invited you, you're still going to an unfamiliar place filled with people you don't know.  And there are all those questions.  What do I wear?  Where do I go?  What time do the services start?  Is there anything for my kids?  We want to make your visit with us as enjoyable as possible, so on this page, we'll cover some of those bits of information which will smooth the way for you.

How do I get there?
We are located in north Jackson, only a few hundred feet from the entrance to North Park.  If you'll click HERE you'll be able to view a map of our location.  You can also use the map's direction feature to get step-by-step driving instructions from your place to ours.
What time do the services start?
We try to begin our services at the time listed HERE.  But if you don't make it right on time, please come on in anyway. You won't bother us by slipping in late.

What about babies and small children?
Typically, a nursery service and special services will be available for your little ones.

What to wear?
We don't have a dress code here.  You'll see our Pastor and some of the other men in coats and ties, and you'll see some of the ladies in dresses.  But you'll also see some of our folks in more casual clothes, and some ladies wearing slacks.  We want you to feel at ease while you're with us, so don't worry too much about whether you've got the right outfit on.  Please keep in mind that the Scriptures tell us to dress in modest apparel.

How do I find the nursery, the classrooms and the auditorium?
When you get out of your car in the parking lot, locate the front glass doors facing the street.  This is our main entrance.  Our ushers are usually good about spotting visitors and getting them to the right place, but please feel free to ask any of our friendly folks, and they'll point the way for you.

Will I be uncomfortable in the service?
We don't want to do anything to make you feel uncomfortable while you're here.  Our ushers and other folks will very likely greet you when you come in, and someone may even walk over to say "Hi" while you're waiting for the service to start.  But we're not going to make you stand up or introduce yourself or anything like that.  We'll let you be as anonymous as you want to be.  You'll probably be offered to fill out a vistor's card.  Just fill it out and drop it in the offering plate when it comes by.  This is just a way of us keeping a record of your visit and allows us to send you special notices when we have revivals, missons conferences, etc. If you would like our pastor to contact you, please note that on the card.

What are the services like?
Our services and music program feature traditional style worship.  This does not mean a formal, rigid, elaborate, boring ceremony.  It means we have an organized, but flexible, process which sets a reverent, yet joyful tone, for God's house. The music program does not embrace rock bands and every fad that comes along.  Instead, it is geared to balance entertainment and praise, and to complement the sermon.  Sermon styles and topics will vary, depending on the message the Holy Spirit divinely inspires to the pastor.  There are times the congregation needs to be reminded and challenged with holy standards, and other times when the weary and fallen need to be inspired and lifted up.

Besides missions, what other minitries is the church involved in?
Our church is active in soul winning, door-to-door visitation, special men's prayer meetings, women's Bible study, and special classes and activities for children and teens.  Bro. Michael Gilley holds services for our elderly members who reside at Jackson Wesley Highlands retirement home.  We are excited about our two newest programs, the deaf ministry and the sermons on CDs.
