The following information was provided by James Dixon:
Daniel Jones, Sr. was born March 1757. He enlisted at the age of 22 in the Revolutionary Army in Orange County, North Carolina. Mason Combs deeded Daniel 3 acres of land in Hawkins County (near Keplar School) contingent upon construction of a mill. Daniel already owned 144 acres in the same area.
There are two Jones’ cemeteries in the Keplar area. Daniel Jones is not buried at either, but is buried in a sole grave on private property. Daniel’s wife and other family members are assumed to be buried next to him, but their graves are not marked if any exist.
The remains of the mill constructed by Daniel Jones.
