EDG's work at the Cat & Fiddle
 

Work by East Devon Grecians at Cat and Fiddle in Close Season Summer 2009

 

Plumbers Nick Simpson, Kevin Simpson and Martin took out old pipes and tanks and replaced with new for the players showers and hot water to kitchen sink and new sink for managers area plus 6wash hand basins.  60 hours work x 3 = 180 hours

 

Alterations by John Lee, Eric Pidgeon, Julian Hardiman and Ken Hunt. Divide Cat and Fiddle building into three areas for Fire Regulations 

Built new stud wall in managers office to create a corridor to fire exit door into car park. Alter door and locks.

 

Fit new window in manager’s office. Fit new sink unit in manager and staff area.  Fit new fire door into kit laundry room.

 

Cut hole into Kit room wall to create a new walk way from kit room to laundry room and make good. Repair and add new racking for kit. Make and fit a unit to fit on wall for 16 staff kits.

 

Replace door to fire doors from staff area to corridor. Plus fit new double fire doors to make a private area for players showers and changing rooms.

 

Change door to stable type door to Kit room from players corridor. Cut new entrance from covered outside area for new players entrance. Make and fit benches for outside area for players.

 

Fit new fire door from Gym into players corridor. Fit press button locks to secure this area for players.

 

Fix benches in the two players changing rooms. Fix benches in Kit room.  Run electric cable to new Portacabins for Youth. Fit new fire doors from Gym to outside.

 

Cut out end wall of tank room to enable removal of huge old water storage tank. This has created a new area for storage. Make good this area by lining walls and ceiling with board and rebuilding end wall. Fit shelves and work bench.

 

Put up coat hooks in staff area.

 

Make new bench seat for staff area entrance.

 

Fit 11 new locks on doors.

 

Take up old green carpet in all areas. This was really hard work taking all day to remove just one metre. Men doing 2-hour stints in turn. Many blisters, sore knees and backs. This has now been replace with new red floor covering.

 

Work in process. New glass door into new reception area.

 

New slab path to new youth buildings and front of pavilion to join with existing path.

 

To date the East Devon Grecians have put in over 1,000 voluntary hours.  Denny Ellicott has been working at St James and many EDG’s have been on Adrian’s work parties painting etc. Others have processed the sending out of Spurs and Season Tickets plus Football in the Community flyers.
