Getting a new Neighbourhood Watch Scheme underway
Getting a new Neighbourhood Watch Scheme underway
Getting Started:
- Someone in a village/street/defined group of houses decides to start a scheme and become a Coordinator. If further advise is wanted or assistance with the procedure complete the Pre-Registration Form and send to Mr. K. Evans,11 King Edgar Close, Ely, Cambridgeshire CB61DP He/she sounds out other interested persons in the proposed area
- The initiator calls a meeting of the interested persons, probably at their own home over a coffee, to discuss the setting up of a scheme. The local community police officer and/or a representative of East Cambridgeshire Neighbourhood Watch Association is invited to the meeting to advise and support.
- It is usual to obtain details of the members within the scheme. This should be done using the Members' Details Form and then kept safely by the coordinator.
- Complete the NW Registration Form and forward to Mr John Fuller, Cambridgeshire Constabulary, Parkside Police Station, Cambridge CB1 1JB
- Obtain and erect a NW Street Sign (see below)
- If a NW representative was not present at the initial meeting inform the Association via this website.
Neighbourhood Watch street signs are not mandatory but are strongly
recommended as a crime deterrent.
Signs are £12 each and can be obtained from:
Mr John Fuller, Cambridgeshire Constabulary, Parkside Police Station, Cambridge CB1 1JG
