October 1, 2009 Happy Federal Fiscal New Year!Public Option or VETO!Dear President Obama~ We should not settle for less. Corporations should not have more rights than people! The only thing that suffers is their profits. Our health care can only get better! With Much Love, Karl For-Profit Insurance Companies are using EXTORTIONJune 11, 2009The Fight for Health Care is getting UGLY in Congress Why are For-Profit Insurers and the AMA using FEAR to try to convince us that if everyone is insured, somehow YOU will lose? It is so simple, sad, and sick that I must let everyone know: For-Profit Health Care stands to LOSE! Why? Because For-Profit cannot compete with Non-Profit! The ultra-rich are at it again! They are now using naked EXTORTION to threaten that if they would have to COMPETE, that YOUR CHOICES will be fewer and ultimately YOU will have to pay MORE for LESS! Fear, fear, fear, fear....Fear, fear, fear, fear, Wonderful FEAR! They can control you if you FEAR! In reality, we know that competition is GOOD for the consumer. We can actually expect more CHOICE as the corporate yoke is broken. Competition means costs will have to be reigned in and with costs, so must profits come down. Having everyone insured will bring down costs for everyone. YOU may find that you are getting MORE for LESS! Do not succumb to FEAR. Feel the LOVE in your heart when you think about every child getting regular check-ups and preventative care. Feel the LOVE in your heart when you know every senior, including your grandma and grandpa, is getting the medications they need, without having to eat dogfood to make ends meet. Feel the LOVE in your heart knowing that healthcare providers are treated better and thus are able to treat YOU better when you need them. LOVE. The Anti-Fear. April 5, 2009 The CEOs of the World don't want you to know about the extravagance they still enjoy! People who work hard for a living never get to take deductions, for unreimbursed healthcare, or food or shelter. The Wealthy are blocking legislation which would require them to pay their fair share and return us to the tax code of 1993, the beginning of one of our biggest periods of growth! The people making more than $250,000 a year say that they should still be able to deduct losses on their yacht or their third home damaged in a flood, or get a charitable tax credit on their 2 year old SUV so they can buy another. So sorry, you will just have to work harder to pay the difference!
Now is the time to take action to support legislation which asks the rich to tighten their belts too. After all, less tax didn't save them from this financial crisis, did it?: Recovery of the same broken economy should not be our goal! We need to reinvent our economy. Make it more durable, by buying local, growing your own food and producing your own carbon-free energy. However, be warned. The CEOs of the world do not want you to be self-sufficient!

make the U.S. South a permanent danger zone, where disease ravages unchecked and law and order is more a personal responsibility than something one can count upon. A return to the Wild West could be at hand . Congratulations President Obama! Congratulations to us all! Now is the time for the U.S. to become a leader in sustainable energy production and usage. We can grow our economy by doing the right thing. It is very simple: We must harness our energy income! September 20, 2008 We have been Sold Out! I am 37 this year. It is looking like my daughter and her children face an economic future where they cannot afford private education, public education will be woefully underfunded. Good protein will be expensive and hard to come by, where the poor and starving of the world will have nobody to rescue them. Our country will be owned from abroad. There will be no glaciers and where monster hurricanes We have inherited a system very much in need of a rebuild. Since those who benefit the most from this system will never willingly check their own power and influence, the change which is inevitable, will come in the form of total collapse. Already you can feel just how vulnerable our Global Economy is: prices fluctuating wildly, government taking UNPRECEDENTED and extreme monetary and fiscal actions coupled with that which we have no immediate control over, the weather. We are stoking the Earth's chaos system, and like a computer overheating, our exertions and consumption turn up the heat, but unlike a computer, there is no fan to cool us off! The entire "American Dream" is the Dream of Hell. Each minimum-size family unit needing to consume the resources of a McMansion; each family unit isolated. Each adult compelled to seek this dream, working so very hard in school to get the good job to work so very hard for someone else so that the corporate overlords can make 400 times what we make. Massive over-consumption has not made our lives better. We are not happier than we were 8 years, 16 years or even 20, 40, 80, years ago. Once we stopped dying off in childbirth and early life due to preventable diseases, which was primarily by understanding germs and chlorinating our water supplies, I would argue that life has perhaps become more convenient in some ways, but in other ways the benefit we get from the massive waste just is not worth it. As happy or miserable as you are, you work way too hard to have it! Does my family really need more than one car? Do we need to be bound "on death's terms" by a mortgage? Does it make sense that a 3 bedroom house with a small city lot is worth 3/4 of a million dollars? Anywhere? It is just a place to sleep! Do we need 90% of the stuff we have in our garage, basement or attic? Do we really need to spend $50,000 a year for our children to go away from home to learn how to handle their alcohol while under stress for 4 years in a private university? If I want to send my daughter to Stanford when she is 18, I am supposed to put $2000 a month into the "stock market" in order to have enough in 2021!!! Laugh Out Loud! I question it all, and I ask you to question it all for yourself. Does it make you happy when you pay your mortgage? Are you happy to make car payments? Happy to spend a minimum of $50 at the gas station? You will be when gas is $10 a gallon!! Are you happy, are you spiritually fulfilled, when you pay your taxes so that our government can spend it, on credit(!!), in order to bail out all of the powerful people of the world? Economic Collapse is scary and we will have to pull together to help those less fortunate than us and each other. The mighty will fall. Their fall will be intense and the power they had once wielded will not dissipate quietly. However, it is us, actual people, who make an economy function. We build things with our hands, we service the support structures we need, we tend the fields and we harvest the food. Caring for one another in a cooperative manner will come naturally, just look at how we come together in calamity. To prepare, we need to reach out to each other now. Get to know your neighbors. Consciously turn McMansion Hell into real community. Go outside on nice evenings and take walks on the sidewalk. Sit on the porch, invite people over, talk to people walking by. TALK TO STRANGERS! Why are we so afraid of each other? Ignore the media and definitely stop watching television, they feed us emotional poison through those things! Love your children and spouse, mother and father, sister and brother. Make your friends your brothers and sisters and protect them as such. Turn off the Fear Channel! Rip out your green, polluting, lawn and begin to learn to grow food. This is a critical step for each of us upon which our very survival may depend. This step is positive for our Earth and may help you get through food shortages in our future. Learn to conserve clean drinking water and make do with vastly less: it is the most precious substance to human survival. Dream a dream of Heaven! Dream your dream of exactly how you would like to be with no fear. Live your life from that dream. Have it now, even if you cannot have it all right away. Have Essence of Dream, right away. Live into the life you love. Question everything you have ever read, heard, been told! Only that which is in your heart can be trusted. February 12, 2008 Lake Mead Could Be Dry by 2021 "There is a 50 percent chance Lake Mead, a key source of water for millions of people in the southwestern United States, will be dry by 2021 if climate changes as expected and future water usage is not curtailed, according to a pair of researchers at Scripps Institution of Oceanography, UC San Diego. Without Lake Mead and neighboring Lake Powell, the Colorado River system has no buffer to sustain the population of the Southwest through an unusually dry year, or worse, a sustained drought. In such an event, water deliveries would become highly unstable and variable, said research marine physicist Tim Barnett and climate scientist David Pierce." February 1, 2008 Center for the Advancement of the Steady State Economy "Slowly but surely, economic growth has become a primary threat to our national security, the environment, and future generations. For some visitors, this idea might seem heretical, but go to our resources page and expect a paradigm shift. Economic growth was a blessing for much of U.S. history, but now it is causing more problems - dire problems - than it solves. Yet economic growth remains the highest priority in the domestic policy arena! Our students and citizens are continually told that there is no limit to economic growth, in defiance of ecological principles and basic physics. We support a sustainable economy that operates within the limits dictated by Earth's ecosystems -- in short we want an economy that is balanced with nature." December 31, 2007 Humanity needs exclusively not-for-profit Drinking Water! Drinking Water is equal to life. We nor any life on Planet Earth (our ONLY spaceship) can survive without clean safe, healthy and available drinking water. Now, it does take money to pump water and to treat water, sometimes to pressurize water and so onsite solar power generation and public ownership guarantees water supplies for all generations to come. Corporations which operate for profit can NEVER BE TRUSTED to control our drinking water sources. I propose that laws be enacted, even a modification to the Constitution to guarantee that no tyrant, no chartered corporation can own and operate for profit any drinking water system. That public utilities are the peoples right and that their operation should be sustainable, energy independent and responsible within universal guidelines. Protecting our water is paramount the survival of the human race. I love you all way too much to allow the few, rich and powerful to exploit the primary resource for life. August 9, 2005 The Corporate Machine Will Eat Itself! They are the irresponsible jerks who dip into your pension fund, who cut your health benefits when you are sick, are poisoning Our Air, Our Water, Our Land and in my mind are of the same breed as feudal lords, corrupt rulers and even slaveholders of the past. We work our asses off for them, they do have to pay us now, but we have to pay some of that back to the government, which gives giant tax subsidies to giant corporations who make billions each month. After all, you got $300. It is only fair that they got $2,700,000,000. Hell, some of those bloodsuckers only make enough to buy one election every 4 years! How will they soon be their own demise? First, I want to acknowledge that some corporations are responsibly run, do not pollute and respect the worker and the consumer too. We reward that behavior by buying their stuff. Those other guys will eat themselves as WE AVOID GIVING THEM OUR MONEY. It IS fun to find ways to spend your money locally, not by multi-national polluters and exploiters. Isn't it satisfying to buy your coffee from the owner of a small cafe in a local place, someone who knows you? Wouldn't it be great to stop paying utility bills forever? We can mindfully spend our money. Those corporations who treat us, their workers, the environment and the economic livlihood of their community well, will prosper because we will choose those over other less responsible corporations. It isn't about a boycott, certainly not only for one day. I propose that every dollar is spent with thought. They tell us that we all cannot have pesticide-free food. They tell us that we would starve if everything we ate was organic. I say that we should let the market respond as it will. I think that it is worth a little more money NOT to feed my precious child pesticides, growth hormones, antibiotics, unhappy animals and all the other horrors the fast food run corporate aggra-culture wants to feed us, SO THEY CAN MAKE MORE MONEY. There is a not-so-hidden cost to our messed up mainstream food system: poisoned water, air pollution leading to billions and lives lost in healthcare costs, arrable land made barren, waste of fresh water, additional cost to clean drinking water. All of these costs are DUMPED on us by "those" corporations which mean direct PROFITS for them. Oh, and they are taking away your dental coverage to cut costs, too. Oh, and by way of a segue into the rest of the page (previously posted), that fertilizer they say they desperately can't grow food without, is made from fossil fuels...(coincidence, I am sure) |
