Remember that you can save more when you "bundle" your trip. By purchasing a travel package that includes air fare, hotel, and car rental, you can get a greater overall discount on your trip.

Plan your trip well ahead of the travel date. Decide what sights to see, and how much time you want to spend at each stopping point.

If traveling by air, you can save considerable time at the airport by making your reservations online and printing out your e-tickets from a computer. You may save even more time by "checking in" online (as early as 24 hours before your scheduled flight time), thus saving time you would normally spend standing in a line at the airport.

Many fine hotels have a "business center" that you can use to "check in" online and print e-tickets for the next leg of your journey.

Always arrive at the airport well ahead of your flight time - 90 minutes is the suggested time frame listed on most airlines' websites.

Be sure to check the website of the airline you are flying to find out their baggage size requirements, as well as items you need to have in hand in able to board your flight. Please read the airline's list of banned items to avoid a problem at boarding time.

Since the amount of lost baggage has risen at alarming rates, try to avoid so much baggage that you must "check" any bags that will go under the plane in the "baggage compartment." It is best to limit your bags to one "personal item" and one "carry on" bag. The definitions of each of these types of luggage is stated on the website of the airline you are flying on.

At the airport, remember to never leave your luggage unattended, even for a moment. Someone may slip something into your baggage that can cause you a load of trouble. Or, worse  yet, someone may steal your luggage (especially if you are dressed so well that they feel you may have valuables in your baggage worth stealing. Never entrust your baggage to a stranger while you go to the restroom or to get refreshments. You may come back to find everything missing!
