Contact Information: Office/Room #218 Office Phone: 720-972-2641 email: susan.m.nicholsondykstra@adams12.org susie.dykstra@gmail.com Bio: In case we haven't yet met, my name is Susie Nicholson-Dykstra and this is my third year teaching science at Northglenn High School. I currently teach AP Physics and Conceptual Physics (aka Physics I). Outside of class, I sponsor the Latin Revolution Dance Club and our new STEM club (including MESA, Science Olympiad, Destination Imagination and TSI Robotics) and you'll often find me cheering for students on the sidelines at athletic events and student performances. Prior to becoming a teacher, I completed my Ph.D. in biochemistry at Dartmouth College where I studied cell biology, specifically investigating the cell cytoskeleton and its effect on the surface architecture (structures) and mobility of lymphocytes (white blood cells). Last August, I completed my masters degree in curriculum and instruction through the Boettcher Teachers Program and the University of Denver. Outside of the classroom, I love photography and playing ice hockey. I also enjoy reading and learning how to cook. I grew up in Aurora, Colorado and graduated from Eaglecrest High School (class of '98). |
