There are so many ways one could classify and define a leader but to me a leader needs four things: ears, eyes, a mouth, and heart. Ears: A leader needs ears to listen to their group. It is important for a leader to know and understand the needs and goals of others. A leader is only as strong as their weakest link, so it is crucial that a leader listen to weaknesses in the group and options on how to fix it. Eyes: A leader must be able to see problems before they arise. They must see what is not working and know how to change it so it will work to benefit the group. They must also be able to see the things that are working and know how to continue producing those results. Mouth: A leader must know when and how to speak to his group in order to get things done efficiently. However, the mouth is not just a tool for negativity. For any group there should be praise for a job well done. Praising someone after a job well done is the best motivation there is. Heart: Lastly, a leader must have heart. They have to believe in what they are leading so there will be a point to the project. If you, as a leader, are not passionate about what you are doing how can you expect your group to be passionate?
These are just a few things that I think a leader should be like. We all have our opinions about what a leader should be but I hope my insight to leadership helps you become a better leader in some way. |
