 Hi, I'm Danny Vanderbyl, and this is my site. Researching me? It's not much, but here's a little something... I am part of a family, and I have a story. My family name is Vanderbyl, which comes from van der Bijl, which means "From the Axe" in Dutch. My grandparents came to Canada after WWII. I am part of another family too. My deepest friends are knit in under Church of The Nations. It's not supposed to be a label or a denomination or a religion. It would actually be nothing if it was just a title. It's a family. But of course, it's nice to know your family name, and it's history, just like "van der Bijl." History is where we come from. And in this case, we come from South Africa! Cool eh. Our spur of Church of the Nations is under Dwayne Gabert and further under Louis Els. Authority is something that is earned, and it is also something to freely put yourself under. Not because you are told to, but because you receive benefits from being under authority. I feel sorry for anyone that is in a religious prison, but I hope to re-sanctify and revitalize the term authority. It's not a four-letter word. Our little church in Canmore has a motto. Everybody needs a motto, right? It's a start. A good start. Living Life With God, Building His Family, Reflecting His Kingdom. Even if you've read this much of my bio, you probably don't know a lot more about me than you did before! That's because words like these aren't alive. Relationships are.
If you want to know what really makes me tick, and what makes my family so great, you'll just have to experience it in real life.
The cool thing is: even if I can't put a label on it, I can identify (see this and this) the real thing in a heartbeat.
Oh, and while I'm in Winnipeg, I'm chilling on Sundays with some great friends at Oasis Community Church. Seems to be a great place to go if you like rock concerts but don't like "churchiness" or the language of "Christian-ese."
