Carpe Diem came into existence in the summer of 2000 and is the fruit of many years of
dedication to music by its members. They have performed in various groups of
Classical, Traditional, Latin American and Folk music since the nineteen
eighties.
Javier Vidal (requinto, guitar and
vocals) and Salvador
Núñez (guitar and vocals) decide wholeheartedly to embark on a new venture
where they put their experience into recovering old Spanish and Latin American
songs. All of them are representative of so many different rhythms:
Bolero, Tango, Waltz, Cuban Son, Pasodoble, Spanish Song, Habanera, etc. These
melodies bring back pleasant memories of moments in the past when music was
always present.
Carpe Diem has
performed live in all
kinds of events the length and breadth of the country, delighting all acoustic
music lovers. These events include the cultural programs of many townships, patronal
festivals and different commemorations. They have performed in theatres,
auditoriums, other centres and in the open air.

They participated in the series “Music in the Castles”
in 2003 and 2005. They have also worked in close cooperation with the local
Valladolid government for the provincial network of theatres. They collaborate
with the regional government of Castile and Leon in their entertainment
projects. They are part of the cultural program of several townships and
brighten up many a public and private act for different institutions.
This year Carpe Diem has offered in all their live performances their
first recording which is made up of 14 songs from their ample
repertoire. This has received excellent reviews from both critics and the
general public. The group is currently preparing their second album with
their own compositions.
