Pray’s Mill Baptist Church has a dream! We have a dream of being a beacon of light to the entire state of Georgia. The way we see that becoming a reality is by becoming the central hub of our community. We desire to serve our Lord by serving the people of our surrounding area. The “dream” that we have involves recreation, education, and sanctification. The recreation would include, but would not be limited to, seasonal sport leagues and developmental camps as well as open-use fields available for the public to have a safe place to picnic and play with their families. It also includes a state-of-the-art community center designed to be used by all ages for the purpose of improving their individual health while spending valuable time with their family. This center would also provide a place where mothers could network and strengthen fellowship with one another while simultaneously having the ability to supervise their children. A place like this could revolutionize our community! We also desire to provide a community Christian education system. This would include a school, community classes such as woodshop and aerobics, and places to hold community- wide events, such as graduation and testing centers. One of our main thrusts would be preaching conferences, concerts, and spiritual-emphasis events. These would bring in some of the greatest Christian men and women of our time. We would have an unbelievable opportunity to share the Love of Christ to all those who are living in our area.

Our most important mission of “making disciples” would be enhanced by limitless possibilities, giving us avenues of spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ in ways that we never thought possible! This is a burden and dream of the people of Pray’s Mill Baptist Church that is burning deep within the heart of our church. We have some members that are so passionate about this dream they are willing to go to great lengths to see this become a reality.

Charles Greenwood is one of these people who desire to go to great lengths to make this “dream” come true. In fact, he desires to run and bike all the way across the state of Georgia. Charles’ sole purpose for participating in the duathalon is to raise funds and awareness about our cause here at Pray’s Mill Baptist Church. As I thought about his passion and zeal for this, one portion of scripture kept coming to my mind, Habakkuk 2:2-3. This passage says:

Then the LORD answered me and said: "Write the vision and make [it] plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it. For the vision [is] yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.”

This passage is not directly speaking about Charles and his “Duathalon for the Dream.” It is, however, speaking about having a passion and vision so clearly developed that when people read or hear about it, it causes them to run with its message. I believe that Charles Greenwood has caught that vision and is going to literally “run” with it and bring this vision to the forefront of our area. My prayer is that you will see that this is a worthy cause and a tremendous opportunity to participate in changing how churches all over America operate within their community!
