Faced with so much weather, it's hard to know what we're going to do on Tuesday. I know that the girls plan a day in a Mall somewhere before Sharon and I go to New Orleans on Thursday (and I will work on my ALT-C presentation and do some 'work' reading while they're gone) - but we may just end with the other day lazing by the pool. Hey ho!

Monday - week two

Well, the girls have gone off to the Mall, the excuse being that the Mall has A/C whereas we only have fans! I'm currently sat amidst four fans all circulating cool air around me. Mind you, I've had to drop in the pool once already and I haven't even started my 'work'.

Emma has just phoned me from Turkey (even hotter than here by the sound of it) to say that Charlie proposed to her last night - which is brilliant news. She sounded so excited, we're all really pleased for her. Congratulations Emma and Charlie (and Amy) XXX.

So, following Emma's good news, the girls all set off for (what turned out to be) a long and arduous day at 'The Mall'. I stayed behind and begun to get my head around some work. It sounds tedious, but the thinking part of 'work' was a pleasant change from the last eight days. Not that I don't enjoy holidays, I do - more than most - but it's nice to know the old grey matter is still working. I'm on my fourth book right now and only have one left - so thinking made a change.

As the day wore on it got hotter and hotter - reaching 96F at one point (the web sites all say that the stillness and the humidity give that a (wind-chill?) factor of 110F. I dipped in and out of the pool and drank copious amounts of water all day. Other than this - nothing to report.
