The mystic is an individual who has made it his life’s work to study the natural systems of the world. Where a druid has a connection with nature, a mystic studies nature and its lore to gain new insights. He is the student of the processes of nature, as well as its inhabitants. He gains knowledge of many of nature’s inhabitants and their secrets, as well as those of elementals. Their spellcasting powers come exclusively through their study of nature.
Characteristics: Because of their studious nature, mystics often avoid combat altogether. This influences their feat selection heavily. The nature of their spellcasting often draws mystics to take metamagic feats. Mystics often turn their skills toward furthering their extensive knowledge base.
Role: The strengths of the mystic class are in his spells. With spells to cover such a wide variety of situations, a mystic is a welcome addition to many adventuring groups. Given sufficient time, a mystic will even gain spells to cover situations he could not previously deal with.

Class Features
All the following are class features of the Mystic
Weapon and Armor Proficiency: Mystics have proficiency with Druid Weapons Group. In addition, they are restricted to using only those weapons described in the druid entry in the Player’s Handbook. Mystic’s armor proficiencies, as well as restrictions, are the same as a druid’s (found in the Player’s Handbook).
Spells: A mystic casts nature spells, which are drawn primarily from the druid spell list.
Mystical Knowledge: This ability mimics the Dark Knowledge ability gained by Archivists, with a few exceptions. Using Mystical Knowledge requires a Knowledge check of a type appropriate to the creature faced. A Knowledge (nature) check reveals secrets about fey or giants, Knowledge (planes) covers elementals, Knowledge (arcana) pertains to magical beasts, and Knowledge (local) applies to humanoids. Much like an Archivist, the Mystic can use Mystical Knowledge 3 times per day at level 1. He gains an additional use at level 3, and every three levels after that. The Mystic gains Mystical Knowledge (tactics) at level 1, (puissance) at level 5, (foe) at level 8, (dread secret) at level 11, and (foreknowledge) at level 14.
Animal Companion: Beginning at level 4, the Mystic attracts an animal companion in much the same way that a druid does. The Mystic's effective druid level for determining his animal companion is 3 less than his Mystic class level.
The remaining Mystical Knowledge, which mimic Dark Knowledge, can be found in Heroes of Horror.
