Rob has been very busy the last few months working in both the studio and in the live arena! Recording sessions for the 'Littlemen' album, two tracks for an Andy Partridge project, sound checking some microphones for a future review and recording drum loops for his own project and for Siouxsie Sioux. In the 'live' arena Rob has been busy with blues guitarist Innes Sibun and 90's dance music sensation 'Black Box'. The Black Box gigs are highly charged and allow Rob to play percussion and interact with the band and the audience in a very different way to gigs with Siouxsie, Innes etc.. Also, look out for Rob's Bosphorus advert in Septembers edition of the UK drum magazine Rhythm! 
Finally, two succesful drum clinics were held in September, one with Martin Ranscombe and one as part of an arts festival in the town of Bradford On Avon in Wiltshire. The workshop with Martin Ranscombe was held in Swindon and was an exclusive offer to 10 drummers, who received a 1 on 1 style afternoon of drumming information. Martin brought his expertise to the table on tuning and Moeller and Rob covered some of the chapters from his DVD. The drummers attending have given very positive feedback so look out for future clinics featuring Rob and Martin! 
The drum clinic at the George Inn/Woolley was a great succes and a real different event to add into the 'Fringe' festival calendar. A room of local drummers came to watch Rob perform and talk about his drumming experiences and of course watch him play, the clinic had a great 'home spun' feel to it and Darren the landlord of the pub wants to book at least two of these drum events a year! So, watch this space for future Woolley Inn drum clinics!! 
Drum Clinic's for 2011
Rob will be holding a day of drum clinics at The Woolley Music Festival on Saturday July the 16th!
He was approached by the organisers to host two drum clinics throughout the day for both drummers and non-drummers. The clinic will involve demonstrations from the new DVD 'Technique and Musicality' and much more! 
Rob to play at Rhythmfest 2011!!
Rob will be performing at this years brilliant drum extravaganza 'Rhythmfest' in Cheltenham
July 30th - August the 5th 2011!

Rob is delighted to have been asked to play at this prestigious event in the UK's drumming calendar. Anyone who has seen Rob recently on his 'Technique And Musicality' clinic tour will know how informative/entertaining his clinics have been. He is already working on material for volume 2 of this DVD series, and is at present working on exciting new material to perform at Rhythmfest!
Expect some surprises for his performance and some multi-media experiences!!!

Rob's drum clinics!!
Rob has been performing drum clinics around the UK over the past few months at
DrumTech - ACM and Planet Drum in London.
My thanks to all the students and Darren (DrumTech) - Mike (ACM) and Alain (Planet Drum) for making my visits very enjoyable!!

Holland trip with the Innes Sibun Band.
In March Rob visited Holland with Innes and the band to play two gigs and film a 'live' DVD.
The record company expressed interest in a DVD last year so the band learnt a whole new set and performed it at the fantastic 'Estrado' venue!
The warm up gig the night before at the 'JazzPodium' in Dordrecht was fantastic as well!

The work and effort by everyone has really paid off and I am thrilled with the results.

The artwork
 I really wanted to devise a drum Dvd that covers some aspects that I feel are missed at times in drumming education. Some of the topics are mentioned through my own experience, such as dynamics in grooves etc..
Others are universal but I felt the need to mention them and bring them back to the fore, as they will assist all drummers at all levels to play more musically and be more aware of the options on their drum set.
The chapters are as follows:
Chapter One – Warm ups on practice pad and the drum kit
Chapter Two – Developing independence on the drum kit
Chapter Three – Developing Foot Technique
Chapter Four – Using Dynamics On The Drum Set
Chapter Five – Developing Phrases
Chapter Six – Developing Linear Fills
Chapter Seven – Drum Solo
I wanted a purely educational Dvd package without too many performance related scenes that I feel slow down the flow and can distract from the learning process. I demonstrate each exercise in context and the chapters are set up so they show each exercise as a whole then return to the menu. This I felt allowed for the student to concentrate on one key subject at a time.

Uk drum magazine Rhythm have listed Rob's Drum Day in their top ten live events of October. The drum day is listed at number 6 in the events behind Guns And Roses. (Use the link to view Rob's music radar page)

 Rob's first drum day is all set and ready to go!
The day proves to be full of drumming facts and with power point presentations, along with student particapation, it will be a very educational day for all who attend. Pre-sales have been healthy and Rhythm Magazine, Hardcase and DrumBank Music are all taking part in the day.
New project collaboration.
ElectroXcentric is the new full time music project of Visual Artist / Vocalist Karen King. King has been an actively involved in the Electro industrial music scene since 2003. ElectroXcentric tracks are written and arranged by King and feature musical contributions from the group's changing line up.
In additon to currently working on new original material the group have contributed a track to the EINSTUERZENDE
NEUBAUTEN IBEROAMERIKANISCHES TRIBUT as european guests of XCesar Canali of Tacuara Records, who put together this eclectic Electronic music tribute to the Legendary German Group
EINSTÜRZENDE NEUBAUTENwho celebrate their 30th anniversary this year.ElectroXcentric's cover of "Sabrina" features Drum loop programming by long time friend and latest music collaborator Rob Brian.

Photo shoot for 'Technique And Musicality'
    The photo shoot took place in Corsham late September and the results are looking incredible!!
The cover artwork is very inventive and the designer Kevin Lowery has really come up trumps with his design!!

Filming starts for Rob's drumming Dvd!!    In the first week of August Rob starts filming his first drumming Dvd at
Riverside Studio's near Bath.
The disc will feature techniques and exercises that he has been performing at drum clinics throughout the year.
Seb Pecchia is taking care of the audio and James Cumpsty is in charge of filming.
Tom Wheeler has been a great help sound checking the drums and generally helping out during the filming.
The studies featured will help develop musicality and technique on the drum set and work on developing your overall control on the drums.
The Dvd will be released in September and available to buy via this website.

Rory Gallagher International Festival. Rob played with the Innes Sibun Band at the Rory Gallagher International Festival in Ballyshannon which was held from Wed 2nd - Sun 6th June 2010. The band played three gigs in total the first being an aftershow for Donal, Rory's brother, and his family after the unveiling of the new Rory statue in the centre of the town.  The second gig was in the centre of the town on a flat bed truck and nearly the whole town turned out! The weather was fantastic and the band played a kicking hour long set of Rory classics.  The third gig was in Dicey's Bar and this was by far the hottest gig of them all!! Rob would like to thank Donal and his family and all the people of Ballyshannon for making the festival and their stay, so very enjoyable . . Bring on next year!!! Little Men Charity Single. The new charity single by 'Little Men' has just been released and is available to download NOW from iTunes.
