Ilana was born in Jerusalem in 1931. She studied at Bezalel Art School and under the tutelage of Marcel Yanko and Mordechai Ardon. She has lived in Eilat since 1957, with the exception of a few years spent in Italy where she met her husband, architect and artist, Mario Doretti. Ilana started as a potter, working with the clay taken from the local Timna Copper Mines. In 1970 she turned to painting. Since1990 Ilana and Mario have been painting joint pictures under the name Ilmar. Ilana has held exhibitions in Israel and Europe.
