Historical background

Droopnath Ramphul State College (DRSC) has been named after eminent Judge Droopnath Ramphul. In 1975 the school started its operation in an old railway station situated near the round-about of Beau Plan under the rectorship of Mrs Arlette Bazire.

 

In June 1995, students of Droopnath Ramphul SSS moved to a new location situated at Souvenir, Calebasses.

 

In June 2006 the school became a National College and after three years new intake of Form I students with 4 A+ were admitted. Mostly, students come from Port Louis, the north and the east.

 

This year 2008  DRSC has a population of about 795 students, in which 535 students are from DRSC and 260 from Pamplemousses State Secondary School (PSSS), housed at DRSC as PSSS is under construction.
