Environment club

Objectives
1. Sensitization on the importance of sustainable environment
2. Preservation of our natural environment
Activities
- Green School Project to perpetuate a culture of respect towards environment.
- Talks , presentations, power point presentations
- Sustaining  the endemic garden set
- Planting of decorative plants  such as Boungain villea and fruit plants, such as citrus plants to be distributed 
  to the inhabitants of the Locality and its objective is to embellish and safeguard the environment
- Breeding of ‘golden  fish’ and ‘ Beri Rouge’ in biology Lab so as to sensitize the students to the importance
  of Aquaculture.


Books club
- Sales of personalised bookmarks in February 2009
- Exhibition of books on the occasion of Independence Day celebration in March 2009
   In April 2009
- Poem Recitation during Assembly in the context of World Book week
- Quiz Competition on the occasion of World Book Day celebration
- Exhibition of books in library

- Daily quiz competition for 2 weeks (20 April to 30 April)


ICT club
Aim:To encourage the use of ICT in all field of activities at school
- Ours is a highly advanced, technological and computerised world. In this information-based
  society, the ICT  club at DRSC is one of the most crucial clubs which aims at promoting  
  excellence in the ICT field among students as well as the staff and in providing online information
  about school events and activities through our school website.
- Several projects have been launched this year (2009) including a fund-raising activity
  on the 29th of January.
- With the collaboration of ICT educators and ICT members, we had organised a Quiz competition
  for Form II students which was carried out during the last week of the first term, which turned
  out to be a great success. The winners were:

Amnesty Club
- Exhibition at school level on 1st April to sensitise students on the activities of Amnesty International.
- Celebration of Amnesty Day on 29th May.
- Talk by resource person on women's rights>Presentation on child abuse by members of club
  during assembly.
- Handprint on cloth by all members of club & members of student council



Civic Action Team (CATS)
The Civic Action Team Competition is organized by the National Productivity and Competitiveness Council in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Human Resources.  The main objective of the Civic Action Team of Droopnath Ramphul State College is to promote the sense of civism among students.  The Civic Action Team compromises of students of lower six, form I, II, and III.  This year, the team is working towards the setting up of a Rock Garden and using tyres to embellish the school compound.





Craft Club
The main objective of the craft club is to develop imagination, manipulative skills and creativity. A series of activities chosen by educators in charge is thus organized to enable each member to develop her full potential. At the same time they also develop a family spirit and leadership qualities.

A disguise contest was organized at the end if first term at school level to give the opportunity to each and every participant to be original and creative.Craft club members also contribute in the embellishment of the school compound.
Fund was raised through bring and buy and disguise contest to buy paint and brushes for fresco painting.

An outreach project Calebasses Government school scheduled for Tuesday 2 June 2009 will allow about 22 members of the club to share their knowledge and technical skills with the cluster school through a large fresco painting based on nature.


Benevolent Club
As its name suggest, the benevolent club aims to help one and all. This year, inthe month of January, a fund raising activity was organised to collect money for the needy and also, in May, we organised a fund raising activity to help an ex-student of DRSC who is suffering from a terrible disease. Both teaching and on-teaching staff, and students gave a helping hand in ensuring that those events be a success.
The blood donation programme has been also carried out by the benevolent club.

Integrity Club

Le club de musique
Depuis sa creation en janvier 2009, le club de musique a été très actif. Regroupant une centaine d’ élèves réparties en 3 sections – danse, musique orientale et musique occidentale – sous la férule de plusieurs enseignants (dont ceux du départment de musique et d’autres ayant comme passion commune la musique), le club a tenu à marquer, à la manière, de nombreuses célébrations qui ont jalonné les cinq premiers mois de l’année scolaire. Ainsi, il y a une participation active aux célébrations suivantes :-
- la journée internationale de la femme
- la journée internationale de la langue maternelle
- les célébrations de la fête nationale
- la journée internationale de la culture orientale
- la journée internationale de la danse
Il y a encore d’autres projets auxquels le club se déroulera à l’avenir et vu le succès obtenu à chaque représentation du club, on ne peut qu’affirmer que l’enthousiasme des membres est partagé par toute l’école.

Science Club
World water day was celebrated on Monday 23rd March. It was an initiative of Science club. A powerpoint presentation was prepared and presented by Upper Six student Daveena Bheenick. A short film was projected to highlight the importance of saving water. Both activities were launched in the presence of the Rector Mrs. Beeharry-Panray and 40 form 2 students. In her opening speech, the rector laid much emphasis on how to gear our everyday activities with a view to save water.

 

Drama Club
1. Show organised at school level in the context of the celebrations of Women's day
    by Miss Chan & Mrs Jugoo.
2. Show oraganised at school level for the Independence Day celebrations

National Drama festivals
Urdu
Lower Six students are participating in the Urdu Drama festival. Preliminaries to be held on 16th of June 09.
Participants: Fokeerbux Rooksar, Jungal Tasleema, Mudhoo Nazia & Nauthoo Ruquaiyah
Play Title: Ehsaas

Hindi
Students participated in Hindi Drama festivals. They were selected for preliminaries held on  20th May 2009.
Participants: Dhirtee Lutchmun, Mudhoo Teeshwaree, Dumree Nimita, Jhotty Sweta, Sookur Sreya, Potteeram Vandana, Chintamunee Shruti, Negu Poornima & Seewruttun Gosheealee
Dhirtee Luchmun of IIT was awarded the prize of Best Actress under 15 years

French
Élèves et de trois enseignants ont participle a “French National Drama Festival 2009” qui a eu lieu au « Serge Constantin », Vacoas.
Mme Groodoyal était responsable de l’organisation matérielle et de la mise en scène.
Melle Chan Yow Fee a écrit sa pièce s’intitulant « la planète positive » et elle était aussi responsable de la mise en scène et de la régie. Mons. Bodha s’est coccupé de décor qu’il a crée lui-même.

Health Club

The Health Club of DRSC has as main objective “To Sensitize Students And Develop Positive Attitude On Health Issues. These students will act as vectors to their parents and ultimately the whole Mauritian population on different aspects on Health Issues.
The club is comprised of 60 members and three facilitators up to now. Regular meetings are done almost every week in order to organize forthcoming events. Up to now [June] the following activities have been carried out:
- Fund raising activity- selling of fruit salad, fresh juice
- Talks on

   > Eating Habits
   > Menstruation
   > Swine Flu
- Sensitization Program for Blood Donors- Officer from Ministry of Health

- Raffle for a “Black Forest cake”- To help an ex-student for her medication
