Integrated Multidivisional Pediatric Specialists
| February 23, 2007 We currently are comprised of over 50 pediatric providers on Long Island in 15 separate offices. Looking forward there is
still much that is unknown and unpredictable, but just like that deer that’s
caught in the headlights, standing still is not an option. Continuing to
grumble will do nothing to improve our lot. Continuing to manage our practices
as we have since the dawn of managed care is no longer a viable option for any
of us. My colleagues, we are finally
at a precipice. Standing still is not an option. Looking back, several things
are very clear:Health insurers are
large and getting larger; collecting our receivables becomes harder and harder;
our expenses continually increase and reimbursement stays the same or
decreases; our regulatory alphabet soup (CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA) becomes more and more
jumbled; our frustration level grows while our pay declines. For as many years
as there’s been “managed care”, we have whined and moaned about our plight and
the plight of the entire medical profession. We believe we are at the dawn
of a new day. We do not expect miracles and in fact, anticipate hurdles and
barriers along the way, many perhaps as frustrating as those we encounter
today. What has changed for us however is a belief in the power of numbers and
the will to change our futures. The time has finally arrived for us to take
back the reins of our practice and restore the “joy” to the pediatric
profession we used to love so much. I hope you will join us to work together to
build a practice that we can all be proud to call our own. --GM Allied Pediatrics Board of Directors:
