The first ten you are responsible for knowing are H = hydrogen, He = helium, C = carbon, N = nitrogen, O = oxygen, Na = sodium, Al = aluminum, Cl = chlorine, Ca = calcium, and Ni = nickel. You must be able to spell the names correctly!! Your first quiz of the year, for 10 points, is tomorrow!!

We will add ten more symbols: Li = lithium, B = boron, F = fluorine, Ne = neon, Mg = magnesium, Si = silicon, P = phosphorus, S = sulfur, Ar = argon, and K = potassium. Your next quiz (20 points) will be on Friday. In addition, we will continue with class expectaions today, and a short introductory lab.
Thursday, 8/20 - Some more demos and a couple of "get accquainted" activities. You will also be getting your textbook today!! :-)
Friday, 8/21 - Quiz 2 - 20 element symbols. Time to add ten more symbols: Mn = manganese, Fe = iron, Co = cobalt, Zn = zinc, Cu = copper, Br = bromine, Cr = chromium, Sr = strontium, Ag = silver, Sn = tin.
