Along with all schools in Dallas, Stonewall Jackson Elementary was affected tremendously by the budget shortfall of the DISD. Our hearts went out to every talented, special teacher who was affected, especially our Outdoor Science Lab and Gardens instructor. This garden has been cultivated over years and even studied as a model for other schools. Our hope is that our fundraising efforts will enable us to continue to fund this lab so that our children can have this dynamic piece of their science curriculum in place. So our "dreams of green" relate to the dreams of keeping this garden intact and the dream of how fundraising from our events will benefit the budding minds of our children, hopefully offsetting the losses incurred during this difficult year. In addition to the Outdoor Science Lab and Garden this event will also allow Stonewall Jackson to:
- Continue “Special Events”, our annual week-long celebration and in-depth study of a culture or country. Last year’s event introduced our children to India. The long-standing tradition dates back to 1976.
- Purchase library books and computers.
- Supplement teacher mini-grants for classroom teaching tools.
- Enrich After School Programs.
- Support the Music Program.
- Keep parents informed.
