We are looking at a point half way up from the bottom, and near the right hand side of the image. It doesn't look like much from this high up.
The nano-diamonds which have been found in the Younger Dryas Boundary layer in sites all across the continent (R.B. Firestone et al.) are our barometer. They are found pretty much in equal concentration anywhere on the continent the YDB is exposed. They're of ET origin alright.
They are important because they weren’t brought here from somewhere else. They were formed in the atmosphere here by the heat, and pressure, from the exploding fragments of the comet.
The heat, and pressure, required for the formation of enough of them to blanket a continent would have also been enough heat, and pressure to make stone flow like iron away from a cutting torch. Especially if that torch was directed straight down. The result is a few thousand cubic miles of rock that has all of the physical characteristics of a slag heap at a smelter.

The undisturbed positions of the ignimbrites as blast effected materials makes them a direct, and faithful, record of the fluid motions of the violent explosions they formed in.
This is almost level ground. So these perfectly pristine ignimbrites are all pressure driven flows. We can clearly see they consist of the original surface material, flash melted by multiple blasts of heat, and pressure coming from above. They moved from areas of highest pressure to lowest. The patterns of movement in the flows, and blast effected materials, are like iron filings on a piece of paper over a magnet. In much the same way the iron filings describe the magnetic force beneath, the lines of movement, and flow, in the blast melted stone describe the forces that melted, and moved it.
The areas of highest pressure were also the areas of highest heat. So the bare, smoothly melted, areas mark the blast points. As well as the points of origin for all the blast melted stone.
I am told these ignimbrites are thought to be mid tertiary in age. I disagree. They are clearly as perfectly pristine as the day they first cooled. And they are obviously at the very top of the geologic column. So they are much more recent than that. The pristine condition, and easily discernable motions, of these blast effected materials describe a geologically recent, un-imaginably hot, and violent, explosive event that would have burned, blasted, and sterilized, everything for hundreds of miles in any direction.
And this is just one tiny corner of the violence.
