AP English Language & Composition is a class designed to challenge students to
experience college level course curriculum. Each student will be given the AP test in
May. Passing this test may allow the student to earn college credits toward a Freshman Composition
requirement. In order to pass this test, it is imperative for the student to
maintain the course notebook and vocabulary index cards. These tools will be valuable
for test preparation. The student must also commit to completing all homework and
working to improve reading and essay-writing development. Student engagement and dedication are integral elements in the success of the AP experience.
Classroom Procedures
1. All school and Code of Conduct rules apply in the classroom.
2. Students may only leave the room with the teacher’s permission and with a pass
(wooden room pass or teacher written pass).
3. Students may use the wooden restroom pass only if it is an emergency, and only one person may use the
pass at a time.
4. Each student is required to participate in all class activities. Failure to participate
will be handled as a discipline problem.
Absences:
WHHS Attendance Policy: Absences are only excused through the attendance office with proper documentation (such as doctor’s note, court summons, or funeral bulletin). This
documentation must be presented to the attendance office within two days of the absences. The
student is responsible for making up all work after an absence. The day the student returns from
school, he/she should discuss with the teacher all make-up work (preferably after school) and agree to
a schedule for making up missed assignments.
No make up work for students who were not absent on day work was given!
