Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction
Service for Learning and Life AmeriCorps Program
The DPI sponsors a statewide AmeriCorps program, thanks to grants received from the Wisconsin National and Community Service Board (Serve Wisconsin) through the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS). Through the grant, DPI staff, site supervisors, AmeriCorps members, and community partners will 1) increase the number of students receiving one-on-one educational support, 2) strengthen community-school engagement through quality volunteer recruitment and training, and 3) strengthen student-community partnerships through service.
Members will tutor and mentor students, recruit volunteers, coordinate volunteer programs and organize a community service or civic engagement project with students, staff and community. The DPI Service for Learning and Life Program has committed the majority of its members to small, rural districts.
