The Downing Hill Story

Over one hundred
years ago, two men came to Texas to start a new life and find opportunity.
Shortly after arriving each man married and started a family. One was a
nurseryman and the other a country preacher. While one man nurtured the
soil, the other man nurtured the soul.
These two men never
had the privilege of meeting, however many years later their paths did
cross. These men were our grandfathers, Mr. James L. Downing and the Rev. C. E.
Hill. Today, we honor these men by naming our company after them. A company
based on the same principles and values used by a nurseryman and a preacher
over 100 years ago. Our goal is to treat people with the same kindness and
honesty as these two men.
