my analysis of all things, Google

Google Android: the operating system for mobile handsets, and early incarnation of Google T.V., the current OS for Google, as Chrome fleshes out, and as Android takes marketshare from the iPhone, the number one priority at the company, nothing Google does is not done with an eye towards AdWords, but even that is probably somewhat secondary to the resources, acquisitions, and all, being poured in to the Android eco-system; getting mobile apps that run on Google's Android platform should be priority one for development shops around the area, allowing clients to reach out to the 25% marketshare of the smart-phone market that Android has acquired, and growing, it should be on the radar of businesses, in streamlining operations, especially in productivity, with Apps, Mail, and Blogger built right in; it will help with communication, and will help with open standards, it has replaced Java ME, as the mobile standard, for the time being.

Google Chrome OS: the future OS for netbooks, the challenger to Microsoft's Windows on desktop clients, and a bet that the browser is the only place that we will be accessing information, in the future; built around the Chromium open source community, that sustains Google's browser, the OS is an even bigger bet, that the economics of computing are up-for-grabs, and that advertising revenue can sustain a free-for-everything strategy, as long as it keeps people more productive on the web; customers of Google will adopt, will businesses in West Michigan make the move, or will they stay traditional, and continue to fork over millions of unnecessary upgrade fees to Redmond; development shops, should be involved in open source programs on Google's web-sites to learn how to build for the cloud, and no better place to start than with Chrome OS, it has the chance to make everything cheaper, and better, at the same time.

Google Apps: Docs and all Microsoft Office replacements are found here, and it is useful in educational settings, already, where collaboration is necessary and version control is vital; the Apps synch up, and replace the need to manage computers from within the Intranet, by having a server dedicated to storage, Google takes care of all storage requirements, and allows you to know you can access anything, anywhere, at all times there is a web connection; customers within Grand Rapids should begin experimenting with Google Apps in advance of Google Fiber, that will deliver high-speed access, that is always on, and the Apps will integrate with everything, it will be the portal to all business knowledge collected and documented, such as meeting notes, internal product requirements documents, and all RFP's done with clients; it will be the database of company-wide best practices, and with published API's and a already built marketplace, a place to earn revenue.

Google Mail: the destination for social networking, whether Chat, Buzz, or eventually, Google Me, and allows integration with Twitter feeds, its unlimited storage gives reason to use search more, and not store things, only have to star and categorize the very most important e-mails; with integration with Apps, it has collaboration built-in, so that attachments, are a thing of the past, with links to web pages, being the only thing necessary, in the body of an e-mail; Grand Rapids residents have taken up Gmail, why has not the business community, why use Outlook, when Google's Mail is better and free, the coordination with Apps and the marketplace allows innovation to come through the email client, and be disseminated throughout an organization, with a few links, and a few clicks, it is time for employers to recognize, that this is what students are using today, and will expect to use in their careers, its time to switch to web mail, only.

Google AdWords: with its central dashboard to monitor all things involved in an on-line advertising campaign, AdWords is the de facto standard in implementing successful on-line business models, and is only getting better, with more data, more features, more recommendations for advertisers, Google's money-maker is in no danger of losing revenue growth anytime soon, though it could get even better; Michigan businesses use AdWords, but do they have expertise, at how it works, why it is working for conversions, why e-commerce with partners, in the B2B sense, is predicated on an on-line awareness campaign, to always be growing, whether Steelcase or Amway, everyone needs AdWords to get the message out, and bring the users in; development shops in Grand Rapids, should be investing in learning the API's of earning revenue on the web, through acceptable ads, that will differentiate Google from Apple.

Google AdSense: with Google Analytics, you can tell what is going on your site, and get paid for content, or links that include Google Ads on them, creating entrepreneurs out of site-owners, and part of the vast system that distributes information around the globe, AdSense is a blogger's dream, and writers and content producers of all sorts can get more relevant visitors to your site, through click-throughs; Michigan businesses have not tried AdSense to any large degree, but it would be a way for start-ups in the arts community to get going, it could allow students to try out their voice on the web, and it can drive commerce to your  site, which is what its all about, easy money; Grand Rapids development shops can utilize the API's to integrate applications that will be ad-sensitive, and create more revenue for their clients, in doing so, whether that be on Chrome or Android, it is a sensible route to drive traffic to sites across the web.

Google Labs: the most effective web R&D division around, where everything cultivates in beta, and to be released as Google products that are ready for prime-time usage, but in the meantime, you can access where the company is investing in to stay ahead of competition, by making the web safer, more accurate, and more searchable for relevant materials, while staying engaged with Google's future looking API's for business; Grand Rapids businesses could be started on the backs of Google Ventures desire to keep the Labs stock-piled with innovative experiments, that may or may not survive as stand-alone products, or better yet, be rolled in to an existing product-line, and entrepreneurs could read a lot in to the investment priorities for Google, by studying Labs; GRR development shops would be well served to participate in programs that need developer assistance, like testing and contributions of expertise not currently on the Google payroll.

Google Code: my favorite resource offered from Google, a place where developers collaborate on projects, either in the company's sphere of influence, or the myriad of open source projects hosted on the site, this is a place to learn about innovations, that probably have a head-start on integrating with the Google cloud, and in the very least, are creating community around their potential business ideas; Google Code will be used in education settings, by adventuresome entrepreneurs, and this could be applied to the still-need-to-be-developed start-up community in Grand Rapids, and throughout West Michigan, for it provides ideas on how to get started, API's to tie back-in to Google's product set, and expertise that simply cannot all be co-located in the same spot; development shops in the region should be basing at least one project a quarter with updates on the Code site, to get feedback and generate additional revenue from clients.

Google Buzz: another tool to use if you want to look at business models of how to begin a start-up, especially considering the Google Fiber pull, that an investment would make, to have a new application for social media, that is growing on-top-of-itself in this area, on Twitter, and to a lesser extent, with LinkedIn; Google's API development will allow developers to plug-in functionality to make it competitive with other stand-alone applications; in West Michigan, the Buzz appeal would be in the creative markets, of how to keep threads within a Google account, and not have to search for it, elsewhere, and Grand Rapids development shops will have to build new client bases, based-on the growth of the cloud, and this will require getting some expertise in the API's that form this product, and Buzz could include Twitter, someday, if Google thinks to acquire a good fit, for their advertising aspirations.

Google Chrome: the browser that starts the OS, to topple Microsoft, and you are not going to even support it, in your software application? that is crazy, Google has made the quickest, most secure platform for their assault on all on-line advertising dollars, and have the incentive to create iterations, that fully support the run-time of their arsenal of products, and run the web beautifully; there is not a browser with the resources or the focus on making the web better, and have users notice a better experience, than what Chrome represents, and Grand Rapids businesses should be preparing for Netbooks, and the OS, the way they prepare for iterations from Microsoft, today, and pick-up Google's product development schedule around Chrome and the Chrome OS, for the desktop; the development shops in the region should all have expertise in how to code with the Google-supplied API's that go alongside Chrome, the browser.

Google Blogger: for all of the features of the Google cloud, the one that sustains the advertising machine the most, is Blogger, as all of the bloggers out there, in the millions, subscribe to AdSense, and some actually get paid for their blogs, I don't know what the percentage is, as I do not, but some fashion blogs, and entertainment and sports blogs, make money from Google by allowing ads on their Blogger accounts; this area has some blogs going on, even at some of the more forward-looking companies, and more could be done, by allowing more employees to write, and maybe sign a deal with Google for support, in setting up an internal network, like Sun Microsystems did; the development shops in Grand Rapids need to have all of their employees on-line, talking about their projects, and sharing code, to hone their skills.

Google Picasa: this could really be one entry with YouTube, as it is a common media approach, to open sign-in, and sharing, and commenting, and distribution through the Google network without hassle of storing on your own, it is all kept in your little slice of the Google datacenter distributed computing apparatus; Picasa will integrate with Google Check-Out, to purchase photos, and other media, available for download, or printing, better yet, to the cloud; Grand Rapids businesses don't have in the way of a common media respoitory, that is web-enabled, it is probably still on internal servers, when there is a catastrophic event away from losing it all, why not store in the cloud, and allow Google to manage it; development shops in the area will be start-ups that venture in to media, the established ones have too much else going on.

Google openSocial: this is Google's answer to Facebook's popularity, and is not a play to even concern themselves too much with Orkut, as if its interests are to get search and their applications integrating with social networking, including Twitter, there needs to be open standards, and so this is strategic to Google, by having more touch-points in to the closed walls of some social networking; social media is based on open-standards, as it is a business, but social networking is not based on open standards, as it is just a network; Grand Rapids businesses, of course, need to seize the day on social media, but also need to understand, social networking, and what better way to do that then through a standard, that could keep the development shops of this region busy with work on openSocial.

Google Guice: just think what happens when Google comes out with an enterprise integration server product, that is better than anything else on the market, and free, with support networks, built through the huge Google developer base, and all of the framework's inner-core is built using Guice? How would businesses react, how would Grand Rapids companies look at their upgrade cycle, as something better, with a lower TCO, and more affordable contractors and out-sourced developers, if a Guice-powered integration product were ready, and think about how long it takes to get up-to-speed on technologies, and how long after that do you trust to put on the back-end? This area's development shops, need to have an accurate picture of the up-take of Guice, and how it impacts their clients' business.

Google App Engine: this is the cloud, and allows businesses to test what it would be like, to place data and some of their applications, on Google's servers, instead of their own, making hardware a by-product of running the data, but not storing it, so you have access to what you need, with Google's Always-On network, it is just a matter of security, and do you believe that your proprietary corporate data is being stored safely; Grand Rapids businesses that want to save on hardware, could invest in the cloud, and have more of their IT budget left over to experiment with things, that do not require server upgrades; the development shops in the region should know how to code and deploy to the cloud, and why not include Google's App Engine, to make sure that the most cost effective solution is an option.

Google Glassfish:

Over time, I will fill-in all of the blank space, above, and detail how all of the Google divisions, mini-businesses, can help you as a business, grow, and achieve a presence on the web.  Right now, there is no better investment in your on-line money, than in getting in-line with what Google is doing for the web.  Everything up on that list, is a potential game changer, in the way we do business.  All of them, have the potential to grow your revenues, while achieving better community around your offerings.  You just got to get on-board and start utilizing the reach that Google has established.

The Google Killer: Astro

I have invested a lot of time on Google properties, and have conceived of a plan overtly for Google to take over the enterprise space but if they are not going to redeam my pledge, i will submit my own plan to take them out, and it all begins with the cloud and taking them head-on with established properties, such as Zoho and Twitter, which would be better products than even Google can offer today.  I have used Zoho for document managment, wikis, and publishing my book, and rather like the social media expert that i am i would turn Twitter against google, it would take time, and some resources that are about to come in to my possession, but it would be doable, and i have waited long enough for the advertising giant to do what is best for developers on Glassfish, so my enterprise strategy would involve forking all of the former Sun software properties and the open source micro-processor designs over time to do what google cannot accomplish rather than giving them my expertise i am prepared to do what it takes to take them down.  Let me spell it out, in a web-site, with time, it will be evident from my work on middleware that i am within my means to accomplish the seamingly unenviable task of tracking down the previously unassailable acquisition strategy of google to take everything that threatens them, though they cant get their hands on Twitter, and they dont need Zoho, going against them would be straight-forward, with real privacy protection, and an excuse to not be tracked by the search engine, that is all i need is a real search strategy and then it will be on.  See my links below, for more information:
