(Post-Defense celebration with my committee, Penn 2009)

I am a philosopher and historian of ancient Greek and Roman philosophy. I completed my PhD in the philosophy department at the University of Pennsylvania in May, 2009. I wrote my dissertation "Plotinus on Consciousness: A Multi-Layered Approach" under the Supervision of Charles H. Kahn. I am interested in all aspects of ancient philosophy, but my primary research interests lie in issues related to the self and consciousness in late ancient philosophy. I am currently revising my dissertation into a book manuscript, tentatively titled Plotinus and the Origins of the Conscious Mind.

I teach in all areas of philosophy, but I focus on ancient and medieval philosophy, contemporary philosophy of mind, and philosophy of martial arts.
