Taming of the Shrew Friday and Saturday
    William Shakespeare's Taming of the Shrew will run Friday and Saturday at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium. Seating is in the round and is very limited. We are asking for a dollar per person donation.
    This adaptation is set in the 1950's in Baptista's malt shop.  He must find someone to take his youngest daughter to the dance, so the eldest can go.  One of Shakespeare's comedies come and rock out to the 50's tunes with us.
    The cast include Sage Card as Petruchio, Rachel Haynie as Kate, Jillyn Brereton as Bianca and Ari Powell as Lucentio.  Ray Hernandez and Alex Swindler as Hortensio and Gremio who pose as tutors to win Bianca's heart.  Julia Black and Abby Ferrin are Bianca's friends. Sam Faulconer plays Baptista the father.  Others in the show are Tyler Howarth as Grumio, Petruchio's friend and servant and Leo Campbell as Lucentio's friend and servant.  Others in the cast are Asha Churchill, Candance Steele, Taylor Chapple, Laurel Drake, Jennifer Larsen.
    A pre show will feature Shakespeare's Women telling of their loves lost and found.  Students in that show include Jennifer Larsen, Taylor Chapple, Laurel Drake, Alyssa Jensen, Abby Bruner, Ahsa Churchill, Candance Steele and Abby Ferrin.
    The play is directed and adapted by Leann Moody.  Cameron Sumison is the student director and Jacob Parry is doing lights and sound.

Anne Frank Exhibit
Member of Mrs. Drussel's honors English classes along with students from Mrs. Farias and Mrs. Moody's classes were able to view the Anne Frank Holocaust at the Salt Lake City Library. This exhibit is a national touring exhibition which includes a film and panel detailing the life of Anne Frank how her words became a diary and then a book.  Students learned about the holocaust, saw a model of the Annex where Frank hide for several years and spent some time in a taped off space the size of her room.  Students said the exhibit touched them and helped them realize how one person can make a difference.

Powderpuff football results
Just wanted to let you know we had a GREAT turnout yesterday at the Powder Puff game. Thank again Coach Hendrickson for helping coach & ref the game :) We ended up having all 8th graders this battle & it was 1st Semester vs. 2nd Semester & our 2nd Semester team took the win! What a blast! (although the 2nd semester team had a little help from Elanor Talia who was 1st semester but filled in. Who played? Abby Maio, Abby Brandley, Italia Cid, Talia, Ellie Benson, Amanda Yapias, Nataly Vasquez, Morgan Pugh, McKenzie Lamb, Haley Alder, Lexie Travis, Alisa Onavai, McKell Groves, Princess Garibay, Cairan Burton, Carolina Palacious, Donna Brandis, Sunny Standefer, Sarah Erickson and Rachel Uhl.

Honors for yearbook photographer
Ari Powell, eighth grader at Dixon was among the top finishers in the state PTA reflections contest. This award was for his picture of beauty--his guitar.  Congrats Ari. 

Top Finishers in Letters for Lit contest
    Two seventh grade students are among top finishers statewide in the annual Letters for Literature Contest.  Mrs. Moody would like to congratulate Haley Gordon and Eliza Swanson.  Hundreds of students enter this contest.  They will be recognized at ceremonies in Salt Lake City in May.  The contest has student writing about a book and how it changed their life.

Yearbooks still available

    There are still yearbooks available for sale in the Main Office. The yearbook staff if also planning a yearbook signing party on May 27, Thursday.  This is an early out day and the staff is planning on showing a giant screen yearbook movie, treats and signing.  You don't want to miss out on the fun so buy a yearbook today.  They are $25 in the Main Office or on line and will be sold until gone on a first serve basis.



Our staff is so excited about The Face Book.  It's our biggest yearbook yet! 120 pages of full color with a hard color cover. 


Yearbook wins national award!
