New School Idea
We have started running our FLEX program on Wednesday-Thursday each week. This program is designed for two purposes: to assist students who need re-teaching or additional help from teachers, and to provide enrichment opportunities and experiences for students passing all classes. The schedule for third term is now available. We welcome parent assistance in any of these classes, or in teaching a FLEX class you would like to recommend. Please contact Mrs. Ungerman if you are interested.
Dixon Collects Box Tops
The PTA is collecting box tops to earn money for Dixon. For each ten box tops a student brings to school they will be entered into a monthly drawing for a variety of prizes including certificates to the Provo Towne Center Mall. The goal is for each student to bring in twenty five box tops during the school year. Put them in an envelope and turn them into the Box Tops mailbox in the main hall. There will be a drawing each month. Don't be left out, bring your box tops today!
Higher Standard of Dress for All Dixon Middle School Students! An Impressive Image for an Academic Atmosphere, revised for the 2009-2010 school year.
Dixon Middle School is a first class, premium center for education. To ensure a high standard of learning and instruction at Dixon, parents and administrators have established a higher standard of dress. School dress standards are known to improve academics and behavior while increasing student confidence and satisfaction. Such dress expectations also help to prevent gang affiliation and violence. Providing a safe learning environment is our number one priority. We want each student to feel safe and be able to concentrate on his or her studies, homework, and lessons more than anything else. This dress code will help us reach our goals as we strive to give our students the best education possible. Thank you for helping your student understand and follow the standards that have been set. This revised dress standard will take effect on the first day of the 2009-2010 school year. There will be no grace period. Students will be expected to arrive to their first class appropriately dressed according to the standards outlined. If you have any questions or concerns, please call 801-374-4980.
An Academic Plan to Help Students Succeed at Dixon
We want to help our students do well academically. The following are ways we plan to give support to struggling students who need additional focus and encouragement. Parents you can provide your students with encouragement, help, and support too.

- Counselor will review homework plan with student and mail progress report home.
- Counselor will assign student to mandatory homework help in Power Hour 3 x per week.
*At the end of two weeks, counselor will remove student from mandatory Power Hour if student is passing all classes.
Level III Intervention: (6 weeks into each term)
- Counselor/teacher will refer student to administration.
- Administration will set up parent-teacher-administrator conference to discuss intervention plan.
- Student will be required to attend lunch hour homework help for two weeks.
- Student will be required to attend Grade Recovery held in the library from 3-4pm daily for two weeks.
