The 5th Dialogue Dinner in Triangle

   
Divan Center held its fifth Annual Dialogue Dinner at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel, Durham on November 12th. This year's topic was "Peace through Education". Dr. Bruce Lawrence from Duke University and Dr. John Sopper shared their ideas on the topic with distinguished guests of the night.




 

The 4th Dialogue Dinner in Triangle

The fourth Dialogue Dinner was held on Thursday, November 20th 2008. This year’s topic was: “Religious Understanding: What’s Media’s Responsibility?”.
 
The discussants were; Ali Aslan from Zaman USA, Cullen Browder from WRAL, Rick Martinez from WPTF Radio and Ted Vaden from News and Observer. The panel was moderated by Dr. Douglas Spero from Meredith College.


 
 

3rd Dialogue Dinner

3rd Annual Dialogue Dinner was held at Sheraton Imperial Hotel in Durham with more than 150 participants on Monday, October 22nd.

Raleigh Mayor Charles Meeker spoke about the diversity and richness of different cultures in the Triangle area.

Jena Luedtke from Rumi Forum talked about the teachings of Rumi as UNESCO announced this year as "Rumi year".

The guests included academicians from the Triangle universities, clergies from different faiths, businessmen and dignitaries from the area.

Landy Anderton shared his wonderful experiences of the dialogue trip to Turkey last spring.

Another outstanding part of the night was live ney (reed flute) performance by Mehmet Kilic.


 

 

2nd Dialogue Dinner

Divan's 2nd Dialogue Dinner brought together academicians, politicians, spiritual leaders, representatives from interfaith organizations and members of the Turkish-American community in the Triangle area on September 26th.

The speakers for this year's dinner were Dr. Samuel Wells, Dr. Allen F. Page, Dr. Eric M. Meyers and Bilal Ankaya.



 

1st Dialogue Dinner

The very first Interfaith Dialogue Dinner was held in Sheraton Imperial Hotel. Dr. Carl Ernst, Dr. Jimmy Harper and Dr. Yaakov Ariel were the speakers at the event.

The dinner stressed the importance of dialogue and tolerance between people of different faiths.
